outstanding essay except the same problem that ails GHANA is woefully evident in your reference to KELLERMAN and quote from TRUMAN. I guess there are no AFRICANS OR GHANAIANS worthy of referencing and quoting . This is a result of mental slavery because of the 'education' we received at the expense of our common sense. We must reduce the number of educated fools who only think white is might!

Problem with Ghanaians is the stupid fools we have as leaders. The are not the solution, they are the problem. they are the curse the canker and an albatross hindering growth and development. They dont know how to lead.

Hesays you are the problem . Get up and do something. You say you do not want state enterprise then do the investment? Why can the chiefs and the DCES and MCEs not plan and develop their areas?

WHO PROCESSES AND PAYS THOSE NEVER-ENDING JUDGMENT DEBTS?
GHANAIAN "LEADERS".
WHO NEGOTIATES WITH FOREIGN INVESTORS FOR MINING RIGHTS?
GHANA "LEADERS".
WHO SOLD OFF OUR POTENTIALLY PROFITABLE, JOBS-CREATING STATE INSTITUTIONS?
GHANA'S "LEADERS".
WHO MISMANAGED ALL THOSE DEFUNCT POTENTIALLY PROFITABLE STATE INSTITUTIONS RATHER HOPELESSLY DEPENDENT ON GOV'T SUBVENTIONS?
GHANA "LEADERS".
WHO INTRODUCED THE INFAMOUS END-OF-"SERVICE" BENEFITS INTO THE CONSTITUTION?
GHANA LEADERS.
WHO CREATED THOSE USELESS REDUNDANT 275 CONSTITUENCIES AND SWORE IN THEIR MPs?
GHANAIAN LEADERS.
NII LANTE, THE CORE OF THE PROBLEMS COULD EASILY BE ATTRIBUTED TO GHANA'S USELESS "UNIVERSITY" GRADUATES, MOST OF WHOM NEVER GAINED ADMISSION ON MERIT, BUT BASED ON THE "OLD BOYISM" PRACTICE, TRIBALISM, NEPOTISM, "FAWUTU BEGYE GRADES", CORRUPTION AND WHAT HAVE YOU.
MOST OF GHANA'S DEGREE HOLDERS WENT TO UNIVERSITY JUST TO ACQUIRE THAT PAPER QULIFICATION. AFTER USING THE AFOREMENTIONED VICES AND PLAGIARISM TO GRAB A DEGREE, THAT'S IT.
THE NEXT THING HE EXPECTS IS A PLUSH JOB, HIGH SALARY AND A PLUSH AIR-CODITIONED OFFICE. HE THEN ARRIVES AT WORK AT 11AN INSTEAD OD 8AM, THEN LEAVES THE OOFICE AT 2PM INSTEAD OF 5PM TO "ATTEND MEETINGS" ELSEWHERE.

WE DWELL TOO MUCH ON 'DEGREES' FOR THE SAKE OF DEGREES. NOW WE NEED TO USE OUR ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE TO PRACTICAL USE!!! GHANAIANS ARE SCRAMBLING FOR DOCTORATE DEGREES JUST BECAUSE THEY WANT TO BE CALLED 'DOCTORS' - NOT WITH THE VIEW OF DOING SOMETHING WORTHWHILE WITH IT.

Hey man! I don't know what to tell you, you put them together right, Ghanaians need to wake up I believe is about time for us to do something to send a clear message to these crooks who are looting a blessed country like Ghana, The sad part of it, is they become civil Kings, not cvil servants when they get elected. Also I want to tell Ghanaians that is not always the Government (ask for what you can do for your country not what your country can do for you)

The problem with Ghanaians is their gullibility. For instance how can a person convince me that the best people to learn mediation from are U.S. citizens when they are unable to prevent their own government from solving all issues with arms, either launching the military attacks or arming people to kill each other. U.S. is a country in which differences between students and their teachers are solved with bullets, not to mention public differences and those in the family.
In all what we do let Ghana come first before anyone else.

We fail to realise that leader as human beings like us do not have any inherent power except collective power invested in them. We at various occasions decide to relinquish our strength in numbers to them. However we fail to act when the leaders go outside our expectations. Hence the onus lies with us to exercise these collective power by raising our voices when things go wrong.
Remember that the power lies with the people otherwise people like Gaddafi would not hide himself is a culvert. Let us exercise collective action when necessary for the benefit of the majority.
Our democracy need a transformation for our leaders to be accountable to the electorate.

I was at a place near James Fort recently and what I saw appalled me! Humans packed like sardines in about hundred yard square space! The stench, and filth, was overwhelming.
The once great Ga nation dissipating and wasting away. Even her rich language is now almost extinct!
So Okunka, glib as you are, do somehing about it. Needless to remind you: Charity begins at Home"
By the way, I spent my teen years at Konua/Akoto Lante, between Zion STreet and St Mary square on BANNERMAN ROAD.
What a SHAME!

We have found a classroom in the school as a reading room, as we begin the construction of a library/computer centre complex.
When the people see something concrete, they listen to what you say. I am currently reading the amazing autobiography of Nelson Mandela - The Long Walk to Freedom. It shows the kind of difference one individual can make in a whole nation, by first educating himself and everyone around him. I now understand why Suth African want the man to live as long as possible!
