Even as a child growing in Tarkwa, we were schooled that "what is good for the goose is equally good for the gander" How come we have two types of law for two different people by the same court, by the same panel, and in the same country?
Equity is always said to be fair, therefore whoever comes before euity must be fair.
Let us also be civil and stop the insults, they do not augur well if we preach peace and want peace.

Both Atubiga and Prof. Okoampa-Ahoofe are ignoring certain realities. In Atubiga's case, he is missing the fact that even if he and the rest of the contempt culprits had said the same things, they still could have been given different punishments. Sentences are subject to the Judges' assessment of not only the crime per se but also the circumstances under which the crimes were committed. Therefore, even though we often see various crimes having sentencing guidelines, some of which give specific ranges of penalties for each type of crime, it is just that: 'GUIDELINES'.

Only a few crimes don't have optional penalties. Atubiga should be thankful for this phenomenon in the legal process from which he benefitted by being given a lighter sentence than Kuranchie got. He should not envy those who might have received lighter sentences than he got on the basis of the existence of that liberty for the Court.

In the case of Prof., he must understand the instinctive reaction of someone with less awareness of the existence of the latitude within which the Judges could impose sentences. Ordinarily, most of us only glance at the surface and decide some penalties ought to have been the same for different culprits of crimes under a particular code. Atubiga could be said to have reacted instinctively sentimental, but not unnatural, to feel or even think erroneously that others had been favored by the Court. We must remember the widespread doubt of the court's integrity to start with.

However, Atubiga only had to be impassionately educated to understand that no favoritism occurred at the Court. He did not have to be so acidly attacked by the Prof., who even went further to attack other entities not involved in the Contempt case.
