On reaching his plane seat a man is surprised to see a parrot
strapped in next to him. He asks the stewardess for a coffee where upon the parrot squawks "And get me a whisky you cow!" The stewardess, flustered, brings back a whisky for the parrot and forgets the coffee.
When this omission is pointed out to her the parrot drains its glass and bawls "And get me another whisky you bitch". Quite upset, the girl comes back shaking with another whisky but still no coffee. Unaccustomed to such slackness the man tries the parrot's approach "I've asked you twice for a coffee, go and get it now or I'll kick your a^&".Next moment both he and the parrot have been wrenched up and thrown out of the emergency exit by two burly stewards. Plunging downwards the parrot turns to him and says "For someone who can't fly you're an idiot!"

Trokosis are fond of these stories. Not quite long ago we heard in the news about a female Trokosi being the first female pilot in Ghana. Does it really matter who is the first. Nobody is in a race with anybody. We are who we are and are not competing with any body.

There is a difference between PPL (private pilot license) and CPL (commercial pilot license). Selorm has a CPL, which is cool. Secondly, the article is not about his height but about the fact that HE IS THE FIRST GHANAIAN EVER TO TRAINED IN GHANA AS A FULL COMMERCIAL PILOT. This is obviously history because it has never happened in Ghana until now. Let us learn how to celebrate the success of others so that ours will come. God bless

I had a 17 years old in my high school class with a pilot's licence to fly fixed wing aircraft. Do I make sense to you? I applaud Kobla for achieving his goals,but we sound too patronizing here to almost an embarrassment!

Obibin & Co, listen to what Fox Bat is saying. Passing a Pilot Licence Test is not any extraordinany achievement that people are jumping all over here. This is not an Innovation nor a new creation, it has been achieved by ordinary people in the developed world: a colleague accountant just trained to be an accountant out of his passion for flying.
The only thing novel is that it is done in Ghana but nothing special about this. It is only the young man's achievement of his on personal dream but not a national dream.
If we have visionary leaders so of these things should have been happening in Ghana a long while ago, rather we elect and support leaders like Mahama and Mills who only manage for today and not beyond.

Fox Bat. I am happy for what you are studying wherever you are. But please, what the cattle farmers have is PPL (private pilot license), which means they cannot be hired and be paid for it. But Selorm has a CPL (Commercial Pilot License), which means he could be flying the next flight you board from wherever to wherever. And the beauty of it is that he was trained not in the USA, Europe, Asia or Australia, but right here in Ghana, West Africa. The historic feat here is that he is the first ever to have been trained in that capacity in Ghana. Boss, if we cannot celebrate this small feat as a country, then how can we move on from here to higher things. Please, find a place in your heart to celebrate the success of your brothers. By the way lots of Ghanaians are innovating now in various areas. I am sure if tomorrow a Ghanaian comes out with a fantastic application you will say it is nothing because these things are being done by others all over the world. Hmmm

As to Nkrumah being right about the African, does Ghana's inability to feed its self after 56 years of sovereignty prove that he was right? Perhaps accepting mediocrity and running down institutions of excellence like Achimota, Legon, KorleBu, The Civil Service, to mention just a few, is proof that Nkrumah was right. Other than Botswana and South Africa, how many African countries have proved Nkrumah right that given the chance the African can rule himself. We only know how to rape and pillage and we do it to our own people and drive them further and further into poverty.
