Afrifa deliberately appointed him chair of the National Coucil for Civic Education enabling him to tour the country and present himself to the people. With such huge exposure and a fragmented opposition, he was elected prime minister on the basis of massive votes from Ashanti and his native BA.

All of them did something good. As humans, all of them made some mistakes. Their mistakes must be a lesson for us so we don't repeat.

After Becoming The Prime Minister of Ghana In 1969

When the National Liberation Movement was launched in Kumasi in 1954, the Senior Linguist of the Asantehene, Nana Agyeman Prempeh II gave his FULL SUPPORT to the NLM and stated that the “Asante State” had assumed full responsibility for the National Liberation Movement. However, its appeal was decidedly limited to the sons and daughters of Asante only.

Its call to arms were also based on the past glorious victories in wars fought by that “State”. The Great Oath of Asante was sworn on 19th September, 1954 by the Senior Linguist of the Asantehene, Baffour Akoto who was also the Chairman of that murderous tribal grouping fighting for Federation on a narrow tribal front between 1951-1956 against the allegal dictatorship of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and his CPP government Dr. Nkrumah had the over whelming support of the masses in the grassroot while the NLM had the support of the minority elite namely chiefs, lawyers, doctors, engineers, top civil servants and wealthy business men and women in Ghana who were very few as Ghana’s population between 1951-1956 was less than 4 million people nationwide.

Nana Baffour Akoto again swore the Great Oath of Asante pledging £20.00 drawn from the Asantehene Palace Fund to support the NLM to fight the alleged dictatorship of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and his CPP in his bid to lead Ghana into independence in 1957. Well, the rest is history. It will be recalled that Dr. Nkrumah and his CPP government was violently overthrown in a brutal military coup de’tat led by Brigadier A.A. Afrifa and Col. E.K. Kotoka on 24th Feb. 1966. After the coup Western Journalists decended heavily in Accra like vultures and instead of portraying Ghana as a country VICTIMIZED by Western Countries led by the USA, and their selfish interests, most journalists played up the idea that Dr. Nkrumah was just another African Leader who could not successfully negotiate the complexities of INDUSTRIALISATION which was completely FALSE ANYWAY. Today, Kaiser’s smelter at Tema still operates on CHEAP ELECTRICITY from the Akosombo Dam. Over 68 factories that were built by Dr. Nkrumah which were all operating fully before the 1966 bloody coup de’tat and were still in operation at the time of his overthrow have now been SOLD OFF TO PRIVATE OPERATORS mostly WESTERNERS by Brigadier Afrifa and Kotoka while the remaining factories that were operating in 1969 were all sold out by Dr. K.A. Busia when he won the 1969 general elections in a “landslide” The CPP and its integral wings were all banned by the NLC military Junta with NLC Decree 345 which made it an offence to even possess the mere photograph of the late Dr. Nkrumah or forming a political party as a former CPP member, so Dr. Busia campaigned under the name of the Centre for Civic Education for 3years in order to market himself to contest the 1969 elections which was given to him on a silver platter by General Afrifa, then a Brigadier in the Army but who promoted himself to a full General after that bloody coup in 1966. Gen. Afrifia later resigned and handed over power to Dr. Busia in 1969. But for the unfair, and Bukata or Kalabule behavior of Gen. Afrifa and the NLC military junta in 1969. Dr. Busia could not have become Ghana’s Prime Minister because only the elite in Ghana knew him since he was always. hiding in Exile in London exporting Bombs, Guns and Grenades to Ghana and he was in close contact with the dreaded C.I.A of America just like J.B. Danquah of Kyebi at Akyem Abuakwa.

Now, 47 years after the violent overthrow of Dr. Nkrumah, Ghana has fully returned to the colonial era of little or no industrialization with the country importing everything it needs.

As this is happening, who benefits from it? The very Western countries led by the U.S.A who assisted some unpatriotic military officers to overthrow the late Dr. Nkrumah. How sad! Now Ghana is back to square one – And who caus Am? The hopeless Asante/Akyem politicians leading the NPP today 2013. The awful tragedy of 24th Feb. 1966 can never be forgotten by former Young Pioneer Cadres including this writer.

HOW BUSIA DISGRACED THE GOLDEN STOOL
Though Dr. K.A. Busia, the former Prime Minister of Ghana from 1969 to 1972 posed as the CHAMPION of TRUE DEMOCRACY in his address to parliament during the Second Republic in 1969, he could not avoid his clash with the judges in the FAMOUS SALLAH CASE where he openly accused them of BIAS and PARTIALITY against his government by staring thus. “My Government, Professor Busia, the then Prime Minister CHARGED and WARNED, will exercise its right to employ ONLY those whom it wishes to employ. No court can Enforce Any Decision that seeks to COMPEL the government to EMPLOY or RE-EMPLOY any one…………my government will not condone any lowering of standards for maining this principle. After uttering this trash, he went ahead to DISSOLVE THE WHOLE TRADES UNION CONGRESS (T.U.C) in Ghana and took over its assets by saying that they supported Dr. Nkrumah’s CPP government he appointed the Secretary General of the T.U.C instead of allowing for competitive elections- Yes, that was Dr. Busia, the democrat whose ideology the NPP represent today for you”

NANA AGYEMAN PREMPEH II QUESTIONS DR. BUSIA

It will be recalled that Nana Osei Agyeman Prempeh II – the Asantehene was still alive in 1969 when Dr. Busia was the Prime Minister of the Republic of Ghana. He once asked Busia thus. “Now that you are the Prime Minister of the Republic of Ghana, what is the fate of the National Liberation Movement (NLM) with” Mate-meho” as its local name?
Dr. Busia’s shameful answer to the late Asante King was this; Nana we Have Discarded, The National Liberation Movement. In re-action the Asantehene politely nodded his head in disbelief and gave a very nice smile towards Busia but he never added a word because he was a traditional diplomat. Here was somebody who fully supported the NLM and even dished out £20.00 to help remove. Dr. Nkrumah, but when the President was finally removed from office in 1966. Members of the NLM/UP tradition leading the National Liberation Council could not declare the Ashanti Region as a Federal Republic by Decree, and when the “Great Leader” of the NLM like Dr. Busia also became the Prime Minister of Ghana, he too could not send a Bill to Parliament for Asante to break away and formed a Federal Republic of Asante and yet thousands of innocent men, women and children were sent to their untimely graves because of “Asante Federation” between 1951-1956. The amount of £20.00 at that time was a BIG MONEY and at the end of the day, Busia had the guts to tell the Asantehene that he had discarded the NLM. Matter and the “Asante nation” STOP PRESS. I was shocked to the marrow when I saw the statue of Dr. J.B. Danquah at a circle in the heart of Accra the capital city of Ghana which was named after him. How on earth can a formed C.I.A Agent who personally supervised the KILLINGS SPREE OF 1951-1956 Ethnic Cleansing at Kyebi in which thousands of innocent men, women and children died in the genocide and yet this MONSTROSITY still stand in the centre of Ghana? Do we need to commemorate SAVAGERY in Ghana? No. wonder, Ex-Prez. Kufour described this SAVAGE in 2005 as a Patriotic Saint. Meanwhile, Nana Osei Agyeman Prempeh II will still be questioning Dr. Busia in the Next World to explain the reason why he disgraced the Golden Stool by discarding he NLM without consulting the King in 1969. The Late Asantehene may not get in touch with Dr. Busia the murderer, because he would be in Hell while the King would also be in Heaven, so they are poles apart Keep your fingers crossed. Nkrumah was power drunk in the sense that when he was in power, he had no vice and what was the reason behind that? Imagine ruling a nation of at least 10 million people with no vice.

He was the only leader who inherited no debt but after he was overthrown, there was a huge debt all due to his reckless spending and his foolish quest to unite Africa.

Why he turned his eyes on the continent of Africa instead of developing his nation to the envy of all, is beyond reason.

How much did he pump into that foolish Ghana-Guinea-Mali alliance and what was the benefit of that alliance to the average Ghanaian?

While his house is not all that in order, he is frantically searching for a way to unite Africa at that time in the continent's history knowing very well that it was an impossible mission bound to fail from the word go. That is how a leader who thinks he is the one and only one without equal or a leader who no one can be his vice thinks.

Such actions is absolutely rubbish, stupid and foolish but what about our first leader who had no vice president for all the years he was the leader? We are nurturing our democracy in a way that will stand the test of time. There should be no room for complacency. When these people we elect as leaders behave, we have to have the will to chastise them. I am against what Nkrumah did for not having a vice president and also, use our monies to support some foolish projects across the African continent.

Look, it is on record that he built some low-cost building in far away Cape Verde Islands and some railway lines in Mauritania. What about the Ghana-Guinea-Mali alliance? What did that alliance benefit the ordinary Ghanaian? Nkrumah, being the first leader, should have laid a solid foundation that will stand the test of time for others to build upon. I know he did well but he could have done more. Our current predicament originated from some of his failures.

If Africa were united would we not be better placed to control our abundant natural resources and therefore develop as a continent? Would the rest of the world not respect us and stop interfering in our affairs?

The state industries formed the basis of our industrial development. We were beginning to rely on ourselves rather than foreigners to exploit our resources. Had we maintained them, we would have built up invaluable management experience and run them better for the benefit of our nation. Would that not be infinitely better than asking foreigners to manage our resources only for them to make fat profits at our expense?

Where would Ghana be without the Akosombo dam, our educational system including our universities, polytechnics, teacher training colleges, secondary and primary schools, our research institutes, the health system including regional and district hospitals, the Tema harbour, the Ghana Navy and many more projects executed by Nkrumah?

What has having or not having a vice-president got to do with good leadership? Do you know that people have asked for the vice-president post to be abolished now as they deem it unnecessary?

I advise you to read Nkrumah's books and understand the intellectual basis for what he did.

The same thing still exists in present day CPP and NDC. Ask Rawlings and he will tell you. Nkrumah and Busia were then the learned politicians and therefore very good friends. Nkrumah's own people killed him because he went to the east who had nothing better for mankind. Even now they cannot find their feet without the west. Don't create enmity in the country. Leave Sekuoh alone.

Some of us were not born or were very young.From my own research,Ako Adjei was the Foreign Minister at he time of the Kulungugu bomb explosion which nearly claimed Nkrumah's life in 1962.Gbedemah was Nkrumah's first Finance minister but went into exile in the early sixties.Kofi Crabbe was a top Party official at the CPP headquarters,and Malam Mama Tula was one of those implicated in the assassination attempt.He was a witness at the Treason Trial in 1962.Nkrumah's own people didn't kill him.The imperialists notably United States and Britain caused his downfall simply because his industrialisaton policy and his vision for Africa was a threat to them.

The numerous attempt on Nkrumah's life, was laid at the door steps of then the opposition UP but taken a closer look today, will exonerate the opposition in the sense that some of the hawks in the CPP party hate what he Nkrumah was doing. Look at the Kulungugu bombing. Who prepared and presented the flowers to the president? Was it the opposition? Also, who was Ametepe the first man who attempted to kill Nkrumah?

In those days, it is very difficult to embark or do any deep fact finding about anything that goes on as far as the government is concerned because the tools to do that wasn't available unlike today.

Nkrumah's own people were then plotting to annihilate him but it was the opposition who were blamed.

“The dam was conceived in 1915 by geologist Albert Ernest Kitson, but no plans were drawn until the 1940s.[6] The development of the Volta River Basin was proposed in 1949, but because there was not sufficient funds, the American company Volta Aluminum Company (Valco) loaned money to Ghana so that the dam could be constructed. Kwame Nkrumah adopted the Volta River hydropower project.[3]

In May 1960, the Ghana government called for tenders for construction of the hydroelectric dam. In 1961 an Italian consortium, Impregilo which had just completed the Kariba Dam, won the contract.

They carried out the dredging of the river bed, dewatering of the channel and completed the dam a month earlier than scheduledin despite flooding of the Volta River in 1963 delayed work for over three months. Between 1961 and 1966, 28 staff of Impregilo died during the construction of the dam. Memorials in Akosombo township and St. Barbara Catholic Church have been put up in their honor.

In 1961, the Volta River Authority (VRA) was established by Ghana's Parliament through the passage of the Volta River Development Act. The VRA's fundamental operations were structured by six Board members and Kwame Nkrumah as chairman. The VRA's primary task is to manage the development of the Volta River Basin, which included the construction and supervision of the dam, the power station and the power transmission network. The VRA is responsible for the reservoir impounded by the dam, the fishing within the lake, lake transportation and communication, and the welfare of those surrounding the lake.[1]

The dam was built between 1961 and 1965.[7] Its development was undertaken by the Ghanaian government and funded 25% by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development of the World Bank, the United States, and the United Kingdom.[8]” Surce (Wikipaedia)

Albert Kitson's geological Reports are all available. If the contract for the construction of the dam was awarded in 1961, how could Busia have campaigned against its funding in 1962? Britain was part of the funding too. If Busia really wanted to campaign against the construction of the Akosombo Dam where better to start his campaign than Britain in whose prestigious Oxford University he was the first African professor?

Buisa like all our past and current leaders had his faults, but to disto9t facts in support of a dubious agneda is simlpy immoral!

And exactly what has Akufo-Addo done wrong? Going to court to right a glaring wrong, instead of taking to guns and machetes? It is really not surprising why we continue to move in circles as a nation!

Akufo-Addo and the NPP are crying foul because they feel robbed of their victory. They claim that they have evidence. Objective people all over the world have reasons to believe that there were premeditated voting frauds, though what is not yet clear is to what extent and whether they were huge enough to affect the results. Shallow-minded like you refuse to remain neutral, embark on an ominous task of smearing those they hate.
If you are honest and neutral, why did you forget to mention the fact that to a very great extent, the same umbilical cord was the unrivaled architects of Ghana's independence and in fact those of most African countries?
Stabbing someone at the back for want of power is a great betrayal that Ghanaians must not accept. But the ongoing complaint before the SC cannot be likened to what you are ascribing to.
We are not surprised, such is the substance some are made of - NEVER SEEING THE GOOD ONE DOES, ALWAYS SEEING ONLY HIS BAD SIDE AND PAINTING HIM/HER THAT WAY.
We must learn to be neutral in judging those who have the courage to challenge what they perceive as wrong deeds, and encourage their efforts irrespective of whether we agree with them or not; else we would be like zombie.

From observation, many, if not most, Ghanaians are only good at smear campaigns against people of other tribes or people they dislike. As popular as it is, it has earned the name PHD (Pull Him/Her Down). How many Ghanaians know the positive role played by Busia??? J.B. Danquah??? Why not start from there before you come to his/their weaknesses? That would have proved fairness. A BAD SELF-APPOINTED HISTORY TEACHER WILL ONLY INCITE HATRED, TRIBALISM AND BIGOTRY UNDER THE GUISE OF EXPANDING THE HISTORICAL KNOWLEDGE OF THE YOUNG GENERATION.
We must see Ghana as one, and deal with situations in the context of their realities without regards to tribe, party or religion. In other words, we must respect all people and all culture. This is what was bequeathed to us by the founding fathers. Building on this would help to realise the dream of progressive Ghana where tribes would be mentioned only in terms of geographic locations, make us true torch-bearers and avant-garde among Africans, and example to emulate worldwide. It was the vision of our forefathers; it is not beyond our reach.
