A country can not be rule in such a way. I blame NPP for opening way leading to such habit. I also blame Mills for not prosecuting the NPPs which I understood lead to all this activities.

The genesis of Ghana's corruption is the result of Nkrumah' s selfishness and unbridled desire to promote himself as a deity and propagate his communist masters ideology in Africa. The amount of money and resources collated to achieve his goals could have been used ,immediately after independence , to establish centers of civic education all over the country to inculcate patriotism , selflessness, duty to nation ,discipline anti corruption etc instead of establishing such useless institution like Kwame Nkrumah Ideological Institude , Young Pioneers etc to promote his communist ideas and make himself a tin god. Those empty slogans he pushed into our heads , like Nkrumah never dies , Nkrumah is our messiah , forward ever backward never did not make us patriotic , country first . Unfortunately we still have people who wake up and bleat these slogans daily and want us to repeat after them. The Bible says ,teach a child good virtues and when he grows, he will not depart from it.Corruption started under his watch and continues to fester on and on, Love for country should have been woven into the fabric of the nation upon independence instead of bogus ideologies.

I have always maintained that until our Police Force stop receiving bribes of GHc 1.00 from motorist, our nation is not going anywhere! The rot in the Police is even more pronounced at the CID department where if you are quick to bribe a CID, they will be quick to falsify a case to make the bribing party win a case in court.
It is amazing how this canker called corruption has eaten deeply into the the very fabric of our society.
Check Education Service offices and teachers have to pay bribes before they can secure documentation to help them to be rolled on Government payroll. Some education director are bold enough to tell unsuspecting teachers looking for an appointment to pay an amount of money as bribes.
Accountant General's department is filled with people who want to extort money from workers at the least opportunity in order to process their salaries. Vehicle License Authority do not spare us either from this canker! Private companies have unscrupulous people who have a complex cartel of bribe-paying machinery in order to be recruited for a job. Some well-intent women in dire need of survival have to pay with the pride they carry as a woman!
Political Parties will go to all extent to seduce and buy peoples conscience with the power of money just for political office - the big question is why are our politicians ready to bribe heavily just to win power, can it be that they have something to gain in office? I thought people get into political office to serve? The people, however, are also ready to rake-in in this practice of corruption because of the belief that our politicians have nothing to offer except to exploit our common resources. Corruption is everywhere in Ghana!!!
What do we stand to gain if this continues unstopped, except to DESTROY our collective future and the future of our unborn folks???
Our leaders must do more to collectively stamp out this canker out of society. Corruption in Ghana cannot be tagged as 'perception' any more. Christian leaders must lead the crusade against corruption and perceived corruption, from the pew.
... and then how serious are we as a nation if the police force which is suppose to play a major role in clamping down on corrupt practices are themselves openly engaging in this nation-wrecking diabolic activity?

Two years ago, I confidently bribed some traffic police controllers just a few cedis but if they had in fact done their job well, I would have lost about GHC 15,000 and ended up in prison or fined a large amount of money. So in their rush to accept bribe, they lost focus of the big offence. Ghana will NEVER be a country without a CORRUPT FREE Police Force.

You are very right, the people who gave birth to NYEP knew what they were doing. They left those gaping loopholes hoping to come back to pour the cedis down the bottomless hole.

My poor 93 year old mother gets taxed 85% on the proceeds of the cocoa farm she was helped by her mother and grandmother to cultivate as a child. I didn't learn from her experience. I used my hard earned money to set up a business that pays taxes for some dim-witted scoundrels to siphon with their friends. It is a baskets case!
