THE BEST CHANCE THEY HAD WAS WHEN THE DEFENCE GOT COMPLACENT FROM THAT CORNER KICK. WAT WAS BOYE DOING? WAS HE TIRED? LIKE I ALWAYS SAY. PLS, DONT START BOYE. HIS ENERGY IS GOOD FOR 65 MINUTES. AFTER THAT, HE BECOME S A DEFENSIVE LIABILITY. BRING HIM ON AS A SUB TO SHORE UP THE DEFENCE. AS GOOD A DEFENDER BOYE IS. HE IS LESS DISCIPLINED N GETS TIRED AFTER 65 MINUTES. IF U BIRNG HIM ON AS A SUB, HE WILL BE MORE OF AN ASSET.
PLS, DONT CALL ATSU FOR ANY MORE GBSTARS GAMES UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. HE IS A LIABILITY. WHY DID TIMID N CONFUSED AA USE DEDE ON THE RIGHT WING? DEDE WAS USELESS OVER THERE. USE DEDE AS A STRIKER OR ATTACKING MIDFIELDER. THIS IS HOW HE CAN BECOME AN ASSET. EVEN ON THE LEFT, DEDE WAS A NUISANCE. BALL HOARDER!
AA, PLS DO URSELF A FAVOR N FIND A TRUE LEFT BACK. U MAY GET AWAY WITH ZAMBIA USING AFFUL, BUT IN THE NEXT STAGE U WONT BE ABLE TO. BRING IN NANA ASARE, DAVE ADDY N KISSI BOAT TO COMPETE FOR THE SPOT. AWAL MO/AKAMINKO MUST BE PAIRED WITH MENSAH IN DEFENCE. KASA OR ABEYIE CAN DO A BETTER JOB ON THE RIGHT WING.

The Black stars have got all the talents and ingredients to be a great team. All we need is consistency, establishing a BRAND and mentaining an identity. With the players at our disposal, if we get the chance to train together for about a month before a major tournament, we'll be a very difficult team to beat! Ghana does not need 'Oburoni Wawu coaches anymore because since our last major triumph in 1982, we've had about '7 million' foreign coaches but they were not able to lead us to win even a silver spoon!
So for all you haters, Coach Appiah is here to stay and he will establish the Stars' IDENTITY!!

He was totally outcoached by our former so-called “PE instructor.” Frankly, Zambia is a mediocre team, which could not even beat Sudan. Yet, they outplayed Ghana with their tired and weak players. The only time they had control in our penalty area resulted in a goal.
I do not even want to think about Appiah handling the Black Stars in Brazil against the best teams in the world. There is no way we could advance beyond the group stage. We have better coaches in Ghana than this Appiah.

In my opinion, Ghanaian coaches such as Mas-ud Didi Dramani and Sellas Tetteh have more vision than this Appiah.
I am not in favor of a foreign coach. But, I am not going to disregard what Milo did for Ghana. Of course, he did not win the stupid buga-buga AFCON, but he placed second with practically U-20 players. Plus, he put Ghana on the map with aspiring achievements at SA 2010 world cup.

WRONG. IF YOU KNOW FOOTBALL YOU WILL KNOW THAT STRIKERS ARE ALL MARKED BY HOOK AND CROOK. THE POINT IS, AND AS THE AUTHOR POINTED OUT, GOOD STRIKERS DRAW THEIR MARKERS TO THEMSELVES IF THEY CANT ELUDE THEM, THEREFORE MAKING SPACE FOR OTHER ATTACKER TO SCORE. IF TWO HOLDING MIDFEILDERS ARE DRAW WITH YOU TO THE SIDE, A HUGE SPACE IS CREATED FOR A SECOND STRIKER OR ATTACK MIDFIELDER TO BOMB FOR AND CAUSE PROBLEMS. I am with you on your analysis GHFUO. Spare the guy the insults though. It is clear that anytime two or more players police one man (Asamoah Djan in this case) you are going to have one or more players that are free to cause havoc from that players team. Great players need more than one opposing player to contain them, and Baby Jet is one such deadly striker. Go back to his goal against the USA in the world cup. Warris is a deadly striker, but the focus of the Zambian defense on Baby Jet contributed to the clinical finish by Warris. Football is always 11 against 11. If you are forced to change that balance, the consequence is a loss. That was what baby Jet and Ghana Black Stars did to the Zambians.

GYAN MADE NO PASSESFOR WARRIS TO SCORE. GYAN HIMSELF WAS TRYING TO BEAT THE DOUBLE TEAM SO MANY TIMES. THEREFORE, HAVING GYAN IN THE GAME AS A STARTER WAS USELESS. LIKE I SAID, AA SHOULD HAVE BROUGHT GYAN IN FROM THE BENCH. THE SAME WAY HE USED ESSIEN. DEDE COULD HAVE BEEN USED UPFRONT N PAIRED WITH WARRIS AS STRIKERS INSTEAD. WITH KASA WORKING THE RIGHT WING, N WAKASSU ON THE LEFT. BADU WOULD THEN BE A STARTER IN ATTACKING MIDFIELD. THE ZAMBIANS PREPARED N PLANNED FOR GYAN. THEY DIDNT PREPARE N PLAN FOR DEDE OR WARRIS, SO THIS WOULD WORK PERFECTLY. AFTERALL, THEY DONT KNOW DEDE AS A STRIKER, U KNOW.
UR IDEA MAKES SENSE, BUT THIS WASNT THE STRATEGY EMPLOYED BY AA....INFACT, AT AFCON 13, GYAN PLAYED THE SUPPLIER ROLE IN ATTACK. HE HAD MORE ASSIST THNA THAN GOALS AT AFCON 2013.

Just a few things
1. Your star striker will always be marked so putting him on bench because u know he ll b marked tightly is wrong. Otherwise the likes of messi, Ronaldo will always start on bench. 2. Good wingers can switch. He probably wanted A Ayew cut in from the right onto his left foot and shoot.
3. KASA as u call him started out as a defensive midfielder, therefore although he has developed into a wing back, he still defends so it's not such a bad idea. But in in any case he wanted him to be a deep lying play maker,
4. Dede can't be a striker. Holds the ball to long, dribbles too much, not convinced about his shooting ability. Not enough goals to justify.
5. We have to give young players a chance, so they develop for future. World class players can flop at international level if they don't get experience. Plus if he uses his pace correctly, we can stretch the tired defense, which is very good

I disagree on most of your analysis after watching the matching and reading and listening to others especially about the coach I feel you are being blinded by the scoreline. But I like your style Keep it up.

Gyan always take the back seat when Dede is on the team. Dede likes to impress by hanging unto the ball far too long while an unmarked player is waiting for the ball to score. He falls back to help the defense and does many positive things but if some one can tell him the truth about his game, it would help him to become a better player.

Nii, this is a great piece, well thought out, balanced and a breath of fresh air in terms of imagery and style. In particular I was impressed with your analysis of Iron Boye and Asamoah Djan's contributions. I think a pointer to include in your analysis for coaching and total team effort, would be a need to work more at anticipating and neutralizing set pieces (Zambia's goal was a set piece). Set pieces can be turned into opportunities for counter attacks. Black Stars and their coach should do some more work in this area. All in all, great analysis.

I am totally agree with the ratings and analyista gave name to Boye as IRON. It is very immpressive to me is that Iron can be a full of motivations to Boye to have his eyes on strikers seriously so that we believe Ghana can win the world cup in Brazil without question in result of IRON add to IRON BOYE is so great . We never heard that Iron in Black Stars since 1957!!! Iron will help Boye to be a strength,sharp,strong-mentatity and high-focus on strikers area. I like to say my congratulation to a hardworking football analyist. Keep it up.

Why is AA being called Mayele? The writer forgot Mayele besides Mali, also lost to Burkina Faso albeit a penalty shoot out!!

Manny I totally agree with you that the Ghana players need to keep possession of the ball better. Most of our players play abroad so they should know this. A better team than Zambia would have beaten Ghana.
Afful most useless player
I agree with you that Dan is a good player but he nearly let us down. His runs at the flanks were great but as a defender he chickly gave the ball to the opponent on several occasions
It is the master game right, Ghana people prefer 'whack the ball away' in crucial situations.
Opare should keep it simple, he is defender, that's what fans want. Heck, send the ball to the Zongos and stay away from blame
Opare is an aggressive right back. He creates an offensive threat when he comes up. This dynamic puts pressure on the opponent. As long as we have the rangy Boye and Mensah we can get away with that. Inkoom just is not ph ...
