At any rate, the petition has been thrown out by the SC. The first petitioner, Nana Akufo Addo has accepted defeat and conceeded so i simply, can't understand Gabby's problem. Even, if majority of the Supreme Court Judges had ruled that, the EC should conduct fresh elections in the so called affected areas the petitioners wanted votes to be annulled,which incidentally are the strongholds of NDC and President Mahama, i don't see why NPP thinks they can win there and Akufo Addo eventually becoming President. Gabby and the NPP are in a state of shock and are finding it extremely difficult to adjust themselves into an acceptable human environment.

You are right in your analysis. I said right from the beginning that the Supreme Court had boxed itself into a tight corner, by crstallising the petition into two issues: Were there any irregularities? Did they affect the results of the election?

Clearly, there were irregularities, as even the judges who dismissed the petition admitted. Secondly, they affected the final results that were declared on 9th December.

What was missing was the moral courage for the court to answer the two questions it had posed for itself. I suspect that the intense debate to stick to its own questions and answer them courageously was the matter that delayed the judgement for four hours. I also suspect that it was the bad blood that was generated by this debate that caused the shaky Atuguba to bungle on his own handwriting!

Clearly, the judgement had nothing to do with justice or the Constitution of Ghana, but the peace of Ghana, which group is least likely to cause trouble if the decision went against it. Whichever way anybody looks at the judgement, it was a moral victory for the petitioners.

The judgement has set a booby trap for Oman Ghana and unless a major surgery is carried out on the EC, the polling stations will be "butu butu" the next time around!

Another illogical statement full of mistaken believes.In every elections as in every human endeavour perfection can not be expected hence the questions posed by the judges.Were there irregularities and if there were, were they sufficient to affect the out come of the elections.The judges said no they did not affect the outcome even if there were because those were only errors.

This is what is called margin of appreciation for mistakes.You must factor that in your equation to arrive at a fair decision and that is what the judges did.Kobena reason had failed you and had fred away from you what a pity.

The problem with most of Ghanaians these days is we have lost the ability to critically think through issues, and so resort to insults when we cannot match other people’s arguments. If in an election the difference between the supposed winner and the next candidate is less than 2%, you believe that up to one third of the votes being tainted by ‘errors’ as you put it, does not mean anything?
