  The first time my eyes came across such pronouncements on Ghanaweb, and on reflecting, I took the state of Tsatsu's looks as a matter of course. Let's face it, unless you are very vain as to go for botox of cosmetic surgery, at the age of 60 plus you would definitely have lost you charming looks, a situation in his case compounded by a life long battle with asthma, a debilitating health condition which is not by choice. Or in your time warp, people do not age with advancement in age.
  
  I was however intrigued by the imputation of chicanery which ultimately led to his brush with the law and ultimately, being tagged with the name thief and convict. My bemusement stemmed from the fact that, Tsatsu was one person whose academic exploits destined him for dizzying heights in whatever field in life and most of us youngsters in his age group those days secretly yearned that if only God could give us just a minute fraction of his intelligence so that we could also exhibit some of his academic prowess. So what could gone so terribly in the intervening period that he should now be an ex-convict?
  
  Having left Ghana since 1982 I was not au fait with developments back home so I took it upon myself to find out what crime(s) he committed and thanks to the the great internet learnt that,he was tried and sentenced to imprisonment for CAUSING FINANCIAL LOSS OF GHc230 000 to the Government of Ghaha. The definitive words are CAUSING FINANCIAL LOSS, not theft, misappropriation or embezzlement of public fund for his personal benefit, so why the demonic frenzy to the extent that the name Tsatsu has become synonymous with thievery in the parlance of some Ghanaians?
  
  Lets face it, if people in Ghana should be jailed for causing loss to the State I am sure half the populace will be behind bars and I can bet my last cents that, the three gentlemen who led the just ended SC petition would have now been preparing to spend the rest of their lives in prison. I am not good at mathematics but work it out for yourself. If Ghc230 000 is equal to five years, then how long is equal to GHc2 billion?
  
  Abraham Maslow propounded a five level hierarchy of needs starting from the lowest level, PHYSIOLOGICAL followed by SAFETY, LOVE/BELONGING, ESTEEM and finally, SELF ACTUALIZATION. At level of Self Actualization, people who are so blessed to fall within this bracket are concerned with morality, creativity, spontaneity, problem solving, lack of prejudice and acceptance of facts. Such people have reached the stage where the general good subsumes their individual needs. They do not wait to be told. They are the shakers and movers of society.
  
  If you can put your baggage aside and follow closely the life of Tsatsu, you would reluctantly agree with me that, he would have reached the pinnacle of his Hierarchy of Needs when his case unfolded.
  
  The sad aspect of his case was that, his endeavour was intended for the general good of Ghana.Had things gone the other way, he would have been the toast of the country as having notched another achievement. Remember what Dr Jonah, erstwhile CEO of Ashanti Goldfields recently wrote about Tsatsu and given prominence on Ghanaweb that, when overseas there was profound scepticism about commercial oil deposits in Ghana, Tsatsu persisted and finally won then over. Had he thrown up his arms in despair at the first encounter of doubts, will there be an oil industry in Ghana to the degree it is today?
  
  The financial loss he caused the State was occasioned by his proactive disposition. When he saw an opportunity to better the fortunes of the country, he did not hesitate. Bear in mind the agricultural enterprise for which he used the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation GNPC as a guarantor was not going to operate in Ivory Coast, the North Pole or the Antarctica but rather in Ghana, with the likelihood of job creation even if for a single person, not forgetting the produce being consumed locally. It was just unfortunate for Tsatsu, that he dealt with very dishonourable people who defaulted and the debt became the burden of GNPC, invariably that of Ghana.
  
  So if you may be fair to Tsatsu in future, do not call him a thief because what led to his conviction is not what a well meaning and levelled headed person will associate with thievery. But if you continue same in future, I will not hold it against you as psychology will tell you that, a very successful person has two fan bases, one that adores him/her and will use him/her as inspiration to strive for the better, whilst at the other side of the coin is that base that rabidly detests him for being what they can never be.
  
  Lets face it, Tsatsu has achieved in one life time what it will take most people a thousand life not even to glimpse. The cherry on top of the cake is that he will leave an indelible footprint, a landmark in Ghana's political history because with others, he has done " WHAT NAPOLEON COULD NOT DO" History teaches us of two great soldiers, Napoleon Bonaparte and the Duke of Wellington. The former a Frenchman and the latter an Englishman. Napoleon was the all conquering hero until the battle of Waterloo when the Duke of Wellington gave him a thrashing of his life. After his victory the Duke was returning to base with his Generals and to avoid a long journey, decided to, as we say it in Ghana, TAKE A SHORT CUT, which entailed riding through a farm land. Anywhere else, the Duke, a war hero would have received a tumultuous welcome but when he reached the gate of the farm in question, the farmhand, a lad refused to let them through because it was not a thoroughfare. Even when reminded about the status of the person, he still refused because it was not allowed. When the Duke turned back to go the long way, the farm boy was overheard shouting MASTER, MASTER I HAVE DONE WHAT NAPOLEON COULD NOT DO. I HAVE TURNED BACK THE DUKE OF WELLINGTON. Do you get my drift?
  
  In conclusion, I wish to advise that in future, in your Tsatsu related contributions, think carefully. Take a pause and ask yourself if you are trying to be obnoxious, offensive and nauseating or you want to be part of an intelligent discourse because every action invites a corresponding reaction, making Ghanaweb at time a disgusting forum.
