It wasn't so long ago when Pres. Kufuor was invited to attend the swearing in of John Mahama, when deranged and schizophrenic hoodlums sought to prevent Pres. Kufuor from attending the program, citing some really stupid and infantile reasons. The EC declared that Akufo Addo lost the elections, the Justices of the SC also confirmed that the EC's declaration that John Mahama won the elections is correct. Ghanaians saw whatever went on in court. Akufo Addo said he's not going to contest the verdict. Where from all this Asantehene bribed some justices to vote in a particular way? Is Akufo Addo aware of these allegations and does he support these allegations making such rounds? The NPP party needs to be serious and cut out this crap, and Akufo Addo and his team should exhibit some needed leadership. This is getting stupidly ridiculous. What does Akufo Addo and his cohorts hope to achieve and to what purpose? The NPP should rein in their bellicose hounds. This is not the way to go and it needs to cease forthwith, in the absence of any evidentiary proof to support such ridiculous allegations.

If NPP does not have any proof of this bribery allegation, then such allegations should cease immediately. The NPP being the party that I know, does not and I repeat does not just talk just for the sake and fun of it. This is the party of the rule of law and the law has to do with evidentiary proof of an allegation. In the absence of any such proof, such nonsense needs to stop immediately.

He states that the opinion of Asantes at home and abroad point to his abdication. When did he hold referendum to that effect?

This petition was a non starter based on the fact that, even though the constitution declared that certain votes could be nullified. The non imperative word used was 'shall' and not will.
Prior to the election Akufo Addo made a speech that in any election, the people that matter were the voters, and the Judges have proved that the voters mater and not polling agents and not other officials, or pink sheets. Why cant the NPP supporters accept what Bawumiah said ME AND YOU WERE NOT THERE to know the truth.

Mr. Adofo, let me tell you that on the basis of cases cited, both from Ghanaian court and Canada and recently Al Gore in USA, even if the Asantehene paid bribes (which I doubt), it was completely waste of money. It is just like a commodity is being given to you 'free' and you are paying for it.

I am not lover of the Asantehene because of 'NLM' during Nkrumah's time, but for heaven sake,leave KWAKU DUAH alone. He has done nothing wrong,

Rockson has had an issue with the current Asantehene for a while now and it is all because, according to Rockson, the Asantehene has not supported his side in regards to the Kumawu Chieftancy affairs. Rockson has never been fair to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and it is not a surprise to me that he has fallen into the trap set by NDC.

They say the Asantehene supports Hearts of Oak. A ridiculous proposition.

NDC put out a lie that the Asantehene is a member of their party, which is a lie. They did that in their effort to undermine the support of the NPP among Asantes. Unfortunately people like Rockson swallowed the bait, and that helped to even increase Rockson's hatred for the Asantehene.

It is also clear to me that the NDC put out a palpable lie that the Asantehene bribed the judges to dismiss the petitioners case. The judges may have been bribed but certainly, the Asantehene has nothing to do with it. It is also an attempt to undermine the authority of the Asantehene and cause confusion in the stronghold of NPP. That allegation is also meant to create suspicion between the Asantes and Akyems in the NPP. It gives the impression that the Asantehene is working against the interest of NPP because Nana Addo is an Akyem. People like Rockson is helping the NDC to cause confusion in NPP and thereby increasing the electoral fortunes of NDC.

I will urge Rockson to read between the lines and should not let his differences with the Asantehene vis a vis the Kumawu Chieftancy affairs to becloud his judgement to the advantage of NDC.

Eockson should leave out the Asantehene for he can never be an NDC member, Hearts of Oak supporter,nor did he play any role in the bribing of the judges.

Otumfuo these days combines contradictory qualities. He is KING of the Ashantis, yet his alleged political bias undermines the wishes of many of his subjects. His meddling in politics , opens the gateway to a more powerful criticism and scrutiny with accompanying unwelcome attacks.
He should have known better. Ashantis have a clear concept of reverence. Their lives, that of their KING and their overall welfare are cosmo-biologically linked with that of the universe; check the origins of the GOLDEN STOOL. Any interference with central government politics is at variance with their customs and traditional values and strictly discouraged, as its pursuance could lead to a diminution of the reverence.
President George Bush Senior once said to Presidential aspirant Dukakis " if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen". Otumfuo should not go to the kitchen. There are top cooks to take care of his meals. If he decides to go to the kitchen, then he must be prepared to absorb the fluctuating kitchen temperatures. His advisers should also take note.
Adofo like many concerned Ghanaians want the rumour mill to grind to a halt. Otumfuo and the Asanteman Council must advisably do the RIGHT thing and take the FREE PRESS to court to clear the slate clean. Bully boy tactics against radio station/s is unacceptable and unhelpful. We cherish the GREAT ASHANTI STOOL.

Young men and women should learn from history. 'Founders Day' massacre. Is it a coincidence? A Founder whose agenda included Asante-Bashing; who vowed to make chiefs run away and leave their sandals. Chieftaincy (at least in Asante) has outlived him! Asante and Ghana's greatest asset in the comity of nations is our unique culture. Asante culture and its Chieftaincy is unique. And Otumfuo the Asantehene is the head and embodiment of all that is Asante. The detractors are counting on severing the head of the 'snake' to leave it a mere rope. But they labour in vain. Whom God has blessed no one curses.
This agenda of Asante-bashing did not start today. We signed a treaty in 1874 with the British that could not prevent the near annihilation of Asante in 1896. The Asantehene then was abused, humiliated and exiled first to Elmina. We followed him to Elmina. They removed him to Sierra Leone. We followed him on foot to Sierra Leone too. They sent the Asantehene to Seychelles. Asante women led the Yaa Asantewaa war of 1900 and fought to protect the Golden Stool which the British and their collaborators could not capture. The Asantehene had been subjugated and exiled to an unknown land leaving our nation destitute to the plunder of economic vampires who had little to no consideration for our cultural and traditional values and norms. As a matter of fact whose ulterior motives were to annihilate Asante both in spirit and in form. If it were not so, how could anyone explain the use of military artillery hitherto unused anywhere in colonised world to subdue, plunder and desecrate the rich cultural heritage of the Asante Empire.
They kept the king for 28 years from 1896-1924 and only repatriated him after they realised that Asante people were ungovernable without their king.
His repatriation though joyous when it occurred had virtually broken the Spirit of an African superpower and it is noteworthy that supporters for it cut across tribal boundaries; notably African members of the Legislative Council, Nana Ofori Atta, Casely Hayford, Dr Quartey Papafio and Nana Essando III
From this period to the Restoration of the Asante Confederacy (1935), it became apparent that an Agenda had been set, and that was Restoration of Asante to its past greatness!
The modern day 'Asante bashers' should learn from history. They are from across the political divide: NPP, NDC, CPP, etc. Asante is an intregral part of Ghana and a dragnet for potential tourists because of the unique culture and its well established traditions of which chieftaincy is at its epitome.
They should bear in mind the colossal damage they inflict on the fragile Ghanaian economy with their reckless articles and comments on all media including the Internet on Otumfuo the Asantehene and Asanteman. A comment headlined "Asantehene is criminal" does this country of ours no good.
Asante-bashing has become a game for some commentators, employers, school administrators, governmental agencies, businesses that exclude Asantes and blatantly discrimate against them.
A note of caution goes to those who post hate articles on ghanaweb, a site owned and operated by a Dutchman and his partner a Finnish born Ghanaian. Both are domiciled abroad and care less about the content you post. All they count are the millions of Hits your hate articles and comments attract. A word to the wise is enough.
May the reposed soul of the Prof. of Asante-bashing rest in peace. Amen
