This guy seems to be the only voice of reason in the NPP. Most of the questions he has raised beg for serious answers. Unsurprisingly, I have already seen Gabby Otchere Darko, the failed Chief of staff of Nana Addo who misled the NPP to contest the elections, condemning this reasonable piece. It's really bizarre that a party that claims to value democratic principles should rush to condemn one of their own, needlessly. I have been sympathizer of the NPP but I dare say this party is not ready to govern the country. Should they by chance win, it will expend precious time fighting for positions. It's funny that up to now, the leadership of the party does not acknowledge that they conducted a very poor and disorganized campaign; its communication strategy tainted by the All-die by die call did them in. It's about time they started listening to the Arthur Kennedy and the Brilliant Tarzan

I share gabby octchere's viewpoint. This man is a medical practitioner but not politician. Why can't he use the party structures to air his views. He is politically naif as Tarzan

MR ARTHUR, I WILL SUGGEST YOU STOP WASTING YOUR TIME BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT LISTEN NO MATTER HOW REASONABLE YOU MAY SOUND. YOUR LEADERSHIP & THE NPP PARTY IN GENERAL THINKS THEY KNOW TOOOOO MUCH. YOU CANNOT WIN ELECTIONS FROM RADIO STATIONS. YOU CANNOT WIN ELECTIONS WHEN YOU CONSIDER HALF OR MORE OF THE POPULACE AS BLOCKS OR STONES OR WORSE THAN SENSELESS BEINGS BY DISRESPECTING THEM.AGAIN, PRIDE & ARROGANCE DOES NOT WIN ELECTIONS.FOR YOUR INFORMATION, IF YOU PRESENT AKUFFO ADDO AS YOUR CANDIDATE FOR 100 TIMES, YOU WILL LOSE 100 TIMES. IF HE REALLY INTENDS TO STAND AGAIN, HE MUST PROVIDE HIS CERTIFICATES,ADDRESS HIS DRUG ADDICTION ALLEGATIONS, EXPLAIN TO GHANAIANS WHY HE MYSTERIOUSLY VANISHED FROM THE PRESTIGIOUS OXFORD WHICH WAS CONSPICUOUSLY MISSING ON HIS CV & LASTLY FACE KPEGAH IN COURT TO PROVE THAT HE IS INDEED A LAWYER BY MENTIONING SOME OF HIS CLASSMATES & PROFESSORS,THEN EXPLAIN TO GHANAIANS WHY HE ALONE WAS CALLED TO THE BAR WHICH IS UNUSUAL. WE'RE ARE WAITING FOR HIM TO ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS!

KUTRIKU WISHES THE POWERS THAT BE IN THE NPP WILL STOP THESE WRANGLINGS AND JOSTLINGS FOR POST ET AL AND CAREFULLY REFLECT ON THE ELECTIONS AND HOW THEY CAN COUNTERACT THE MACHINATIONS THAT GO IN THE ELECTORAL COMMISSION'S OFFICE. KUTRIKU CAN BET ON HIS LAST DOLLAR THAT WITHOUT KNOWING THIS THE NDC WILL ALWAYS FIND A WAY TO "STEAL" AND TAKE VICTORY FROM THE NPP. TAKE IT FROM ME BECAUSE AS ADWOA SAID TO ME "THERE'S NO TRUTH IN GHANA' EVEN NOT THE SUPREME COURT JUDGES CAN BE TRUSTED TO DELIVER THE TRUTH.

Are all the NPP members too stupid to sit there for NDC to steal the election as they claim. What an idiotic excuse to force down their equally idiot supporters. How can a party that claims to have all the intelligent people in Ghana sit down for the poor and illiterate others steal from them? This "Anansesem" could only be told to the dead not the living. Indeed, NPP must do soul searching and reorganize for better future else they will forever remain opposition.

My advise is that NPP EXCO should first discuss the strategy of choosing a Presidential Candidate after asking these questions. This approach is wrong.

There are 2 ways for a party to gain political power. The first one is the leadership quality and the second one is the capacity of organisation and adaptation. If Npp wants to focus on the quality of the leader before reoganising the party;it's fine.If they also want to reoganise the party before electing their leader is also not bad. When a party is strong on the grounds,it needs very little to sell the leader. On the contrary,a very strong party with an imbalanced leader could also be a failure. Ironically,we don't vote for a party we vote for individuals that makes it necessary for every party to field a potential leader who can win the élections.Ofcourse,a strong leader and a strong party can fail if confronted with a gifted opponent. In essence,it takes a strong leader and a strong party to win power. The leader must be able to use the party structures offered him to reach the ultimate goal. The party must be in a position to make things easier for their candidate to win because he can't do it alone.Let me give an example here, when Hilla Liman was brought to Ghana to lead his party. The party prepared the way for him to win but when Nkrumah was brought to Ghana,he had to form a completely new party and lead the party to victory. There is something in common, whilst Nkrumah was in prison his party worked very hard to get him the victory. This goes to tell you that the leader needs the party to succeed. There are also atimes where the party needs a pragmatic leader to win like what happened to Barrack Obama.I think Uncle Kobina is right at this particular moment,it's better to put in place a winning machine for the party first then elect a leader later to come and finish the campaign.Thank you.

Therein lies the problem of the NPP. In citing examples of the NPP losing the elections in the regions, Arthur Kennedy left out Volta, Northern, Upper East and West regions. Was that deliberate? Did he mean to say those are regions where NPP should not expect to win? For Arthur's information, if I were running for office across Ghana, I would be campaigning and hoping to win ALL regions and not selected regions.
What the NPP needs is a truly national platform, not selective regional choices.

In spite of my long entertained skepticism of your political ambition and maneuvering, since our common period of Varsity experience in Ghana, I cannot help commending you for this particular piece. It has solidly propped up your earlier light touch on the core subject matter--the need for a serious introspection by the NPP for the chance to do better in the future.
It is most frustrating that such voices of great insight as yours and those of Tarzan and Dr. Tamakloe are drowned by the roaring of puerile petulant, intolerant ones.
Without the likes of you, NPP faces a perilous existence. I hope the rank and file would retreat with dignity to regroup with better stratagem.
