Recollect that Akadu wrote one of her watery verses claiming all of Mills' ministers were Ewes, and some Akans came to praise her/him for telling the "truth"!

As for Ahoofe, his angst is with his mythical "Anlo-Ewes", among whom even Kwesi Botchway is now classified! Good for us! I am indeed an Anlo, in fact, not just any Anlo. I trace my descent to Torgbui Aziza, who was before Ketu, Tando and Notsie, and whose scions now rule all over much of Eweland, from Ghana to Benin Republic! I think I therefore have the right to say something not only on Ewes in general but Anlos in particular (just a section of the Dogbos who migrated from Notsie and over whom Torgbui Sri 1, my direct forebear once reigned).

My first point is that we are more than happy to receive everybody tagged as "Anlo-Ewe", or "Ewe" in our midst. Our ancestors have been doing that for centuries. That's how Ahoofe's own great, great grandfather became a resident of Peki, marrying an Ewe woman and thus making his own father saw himself as a person from Peki, not from Akyem.

2ndly, it is this targeting of "Ewes" by Busia and the PP that led to the ethnic imbroglio that spilt over into the Kutu era and eventually causing Awoonor's imprisonment and his writing what he wrote attacking all that he surveyed and didn't like. Nobody's ass was spared. He gored all, including some Ewes such as Kotoka and Harlley! You readers are all witnesses to the same thing happening on a daily basis here, for instance, with Ewes targeted for whatever the P/NDC did and is doing.

When some Akans, particularly Asantes, see the political struggle for power in Ghana as a tussle b/n them and Ewes, and Awoonor denounced that, should that be twisted and turned around against him, and against all Ewes? When they are asked what exactly Awoonor wrote, they often vamoose! Let us see what this psychotic individual shall write too.

Meanwhile, it won't harm to provide some background from a neutral source to the demonisation and NAZI-like attacks on Ewes Awoonor denounced and it became the "chameleon faeces" into which "he stepped."

Go up and check the names he quoted as Awoonor as listing and how he quickly descended to "Anlo-Ewe" and then generalising to all Ewes in one swoop by simply blinking over the non-Ewes mentioned and even making one an Ewe!

That was exactly the situation introduced by Busia and his PP in the late 1960s, targeting Ewes, which led Awoonor to denounce in no uncertain terms the culprits. Some of us shall continue from where he stopped, in spite of the fact that our Ewe elders prefer we remain silent and not respond to those "gbemelawo" (bush animals) with bush over their faces and dzimakplawo without any home breeding.

Yes, at times, it appears as a colossal waste of time but failure to respond to them allows them to continue to poison more of their unassuming, uninformed and gullible ethnic members with their lies and distorted images about us. So I am waiting for the jerk to write his Part 2. This time, I shall match him boot for boot!

Awoonor's behaviour at Cape Coast Univ was unbecoming of a lecturer. He was the one schemimg meetings with JJ to overthrow Dr. Limann's elected government.
Your subtle display of arrogance, to match any article criticising some of your inward looking tribesmen,boot for boot, smacks of nothing short of
clucthing at the straws, against incontrovertible evidence that Awoonor was a downright tribalist and an opportunistic being-period!!
Scholatic achievements is not the preserve of any tribe in Ghana; in other words, do not think that any group of individauls by virtue of their positions in public services through blatant nepotism, have monoploy over wisdom.

If indeed the Gbe people are inward-looing, they wouldn't have spread all over Africa, from the Congo to Senegal, not only in Ghana, long before Ghana was ruined by you Akans who took over the reins of govt from the Nzema show boy.
And they wouldn't have managed to secure for themselves through hard study and work the enviable positions they have been occupying since the colonial times which is the MAIN REASON for the angst of the so-called members of the Akan ethnic group in particular.

BTW, there was never a united "Akan" ethnic group and there will never be one! And I wrote that I'd take on Ahoofe boot for boot not the Akan ethnic group. There are many Akans who are also disgusted with Ahoofe and insult him even more than Ewes. As for we Ewes, only few of us occasionally sneeze at him. Even when that crazed man in Ghana called for the killing of Ewes [and Gas], the issue didn't even merit a discussion on the Ewe forums I belonged to CEANA. Ewelandyahoogroup and another. I sent a single mail wondering why nobody bothered to say anything. There was no reply to it! That's the scorn with which practically all "Ewes" treat the insane, envious and jingoist vituperation Akan jerks direct at them.

Moron, it was public news recently that Rawlings ONLY met Awoonor for the 1st time in 1982 at Cape Vars during the inauguration of the new NUGS Exec in May or so. This was even confirmed by people who were insulting Awoonor who were students at Cape Vars. So how could the two of them had held meetings before the coup of 31st Dec. This claim is no better than you blokes portraying his book published in 1984 as the Red Book for the coup itself! With this kind of reasoning that you "these Akans, Asantes in particular" of the Matemeho can offer, how can you stand boot to boot with anyone? Pathetic!

The fact that the book is dedicated to a bunch of Ewes arbitrarily chosen by the author as his version of "freedom fighters" is no proof that he hated Akans.

Awoonor supported the Rawlings putsch and tried to justify it afterwards. The JJ putsch wasn't the success that it is purported to be. JJ didn't give Limann the chance to rule to correct the ills of the economy or to fail to do so. The "housecleaning" exercise was really a failure and something that rather brought untold hardships to many Ghanaians. (I, too lived it as a university student) So, from hindsight, it was not good and should not have been justified by anybody including Awoonor who, we must admit, was writing in 1984. I don't know if the views expressed then were still his views 30 years on.

But I still don't see him as trying to promote a specifically Ewe hegemony and hating the Akans in the process. That, for me, is the crux of the matter and I hope it will come out in the subsequent articles.

Busia said that the Akomosbo dam was a white elephant, meaning it was useless and the same he said of the Tema Motorway.
Busia and the military junta gave Ghana's mini nuclear power plant to the U.S. and got nothing back for it.
