South African satellite channel SuperSport International has agreed to pay in excess of R2-billion (approximately US$285-million) for the TV, mobile and internet rights for the country’s
Premier Soccer League (PSL) over the next five years. SuperSport has signed a US$2.5 million deal with the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to secure the broadcasting rights to the country's top soccer league.
The deal will run from 2011 to 2013. Nigeria's top domestic soccer league has secured a four-year broadcast deal with SuperSport reported as worth US$34 million in total.
The Ugandan Super League (USL),has inked a US$5 million, 5year broadcast deal with South African-based sports channel SuperSport.
South African pay-TV operator SuperSport has agreed a broadcast deal with the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), the deal will see SuperSport provide live coverage of 20 matches from Kenya’s
second division, starting with Wednesday’s match between Nakumatt FC and Moyas FC, until the end of the current season. The Tusker Premier League, the highest level of club soccer in Kenya,
has signed a three-and-a-half year deal with Puma. The deal, which is worth US$117,000 overall, will see Puma sponsor and supply match balls used in the league. "The partnership between KPL and Puma will cost Kshs ten million over three and a half years.
“Each team will be provided with balls while Puma will gain on pitch side branding and as well on the broadcasting point of view SuperSport will be able to capture the brand.”
East Africa Breweries Limited's (EABL) Tusker brand has been announced as the new title sponsor of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL). The multi-year agreement, worth US$1.96 million overall,
sees the top flight of soccer within Kenya officially known as the Tusker Premier League for the next three years.
Kenyan Premier League (KPL) sides Mathare United and Ulinzi Stars have announced new sponsorship deals with Puma and Metropolitan Life respectively.
Mathare United's one-year apparel deal with Puma sees the German sports manufacturer supplying the soccer team with boots, replica merchandise to sell to fans as well as playing and training kit.
The combined value of Puma's contribution will total US$34,000. Meanwhile KPL champions Ulinzi Stars, a soccer team made up of the country's military servicemen, have signed a US$17,000 deal with Metropolitan Life Insurance.
The Zambian Super Division is also sponsored by MTN Zambia, which in June announced a 2.4 billion kwacha (about US$480 000), as their sponsorship package this year for both Chipolopolo and the top-flight league with the winner of the championship race getting about US$50 000.
With Dynamos collecting US$75 000, for winning the Premiership title last year under the sponsorship deal between the PSL and Delta Beverages through their Castle Lager brand, it appears the domestic Premiership is still, to some extent, better sponsored compared to the one in Zambia.
The Kenyan Premier League is operated and run as a private limited company incorporated in October 2003 under the Companies Act of Kenya. It is fully owned and managed by the 16 member clubs with each club being a shareholder
KPL and SuperSport signed a $5.5 million four-year partnership deal, the biggest football sponsorship in the country and in the region. The deal
which is expected to expire in 2011 will see a renegotiated contract double that amount to $11 million.

He dealt poorly with the few crosses that the opponents sent in and his decision making was suspect, to say the least. Kwarassey's height, current form and his bigger and more imposing frame puts him well ahead of Dauda at the moment. K Appiah should seriously consider using Adam in the return leg.

Sometimes friendly matches are not the best settings to test players, but competitive matches definitely are. Can someone impress on Appiah to adopt this tactic to identify the best goalie?

The intro is good and he achieved the perfect balance by ending the piece with another quote from the Bible. If you don't like the intro, then you shouldn't like the ending either. But I think both are good as is the entire piece.

Ghana coach Akwesi Appiah still need to work on the defence and am sure if John Boye is fit and return it will strengthened the defence. The Egyptians could have scored more goals than just one if they were accurate enough for example a free kick was taken from the right frank, bit the goalkeeper who should have been mobile with anticipation but instead waited until the ball passed all the way to the Egyptian centre back only to head wide. Akwesi Appiah will agree with me that it was far more dangerous at the time. Also the central defender wearing the no 4 jersey should read and timed the game very well and avoid unecassary tacles that ll result in a spot kick based on his inexperience.I wouldn't make any changes regards to goal keepers if I were Akwesi Appiah I ll stick to Dauda in the return gameat least up till the end of the first half to see how it goes. The good news is Ghana have 3 good goalkeepers to make the team stronger and I don't think Mr APPIA SHOULD RUSH INTO MAKING A CHANGE as far as goalkeepers are concern. Let Ghana make it to the world cup. There are friendlies on the way before the world cup in june next year so there is plenty of time to try other goalkeepers to justify their inclusion.My worries are the defence and Thank GOD Suley Muntari, KOJO ASAMOAH AND ESSIENE DID very well to help the defence in their overlappings, great stuff but care must be taken in the defence.

Azumah said "I will beat him up, and afterwards, I will show him his mistakes. Wait until the second game is done, and then point out the Egyptian mistakes to them. Be careful as well, not to give any free pointers to our opponents in Brazil.

Few can deny that Egypt’s chances of overturning the odds and a five-goal-deficit in the match against Ghana in the return leg of the final round of World Cup qualifiers are minimal.
However, they are not impossible.
On 25 May 2005, Italian champions AC Milan faced off with English outfit from Merseyside, Liverpool, in Istanbul, Turkey in the final game of the European Champions League.
Milan scored three goals in the first 45 minutes, to the extent that the Italian fans began celebrating regaining the highest-profile European trophy.
However, Liverpool pulled off a superb comeback in the second half, scoring three goals and eventually winning the game on penalties.
In football, there is always hope. But hope cannot be present without analysing the reasons why the Egyptian team conceded six goals, and how would it turn the odds around.
In the Baba Yara stadium game, the Ghanaians used a deft trick, the deep-lying forward.
Spartak Moskow striker Abdul Majeed Waris always placed himself between Egypt’s left-back and centre-left back, creating space for Asamoah Gyan to mingle behind Egypt’s backline; this was employed to bring Ghana their first goal.
The same trick was used by Michael Essien in the second goal, but with a different technique. The Ghanaian midfielder exploited left-back Ahmed Shedid’s defensive vulnerabilities and centre-back Mohamed Naguib low pace and lack of concentration to run through the same space.
Every Ghana goal exploited that weak point in a way or another, the area between the left-back and the neighbouring centre-back, beside the weak point every Egyptian team in history had, air balls.
Enough with the past; there is a glimmer of hope in the future.
The trick in the 19 November game is creating a “fiesta” of efficient attacking football while being responsible at the back. To achieve this “fiesta”, at least five players should have pure attacking tasks, with the assistance of two more supporting players.
The Egyptian team does not lack the technical abilities to score five goals against the Black Stars; instead, the challenge is physical.
American head coach Bob Bradley should borrow some tactical tweaks from his predecessor Hassan Shehata’s playbook.
1. Two centre-backs and a sweeper
These two centre-backs should not lack speed or physical presence, as they would act as the last defensive line against Ghanaian attacks. The best candidates for this role are Wael Gomaa and youngster Rami Rabee’a.
A sweeper will act as a “water carrier”, picking the ball from the backline and giving it to the creative players with attacking tasks. However, this is not as easy as it sounds. This player will have to combat high Ghanaian pressure in the first third of the pitch, thus this player must be creative, technically adept and supportive of the midfielders. Hossam Ghaly fulfills these criteria, assuming he can overcome the obstacle of his inconsistent performances.
1. Supporting wing-backs
Those wing-backs are the key for a five-goal-difference win. The Ghanaians apply a high-defensive-line; this requires a quick, technical wing-back who can make accurate crosses without neglecting his defensive responsibilities during the Ghanaian attacks. This player is definitely not Ahmed Shedid. Sayed Moa’wad on the left and Ahmed El Mohammady on the right are safe – albeit not perfect – choices.
1. One ball-winning midfielder
To block goals, you should own the ball.
Ahmed Fathy pulled off a decent performance in Ghana; he can win the ball without conceding a foul in normal circumstances.
Then comes the question, how in the world can one player stand in front the likes of Sulley Muntari and Michael Essien in the Ghanaian midfield?
“Virtual midfielders” are the answer.
The sweeper will have to push forward in support of the ball-winning midfielder, while one of the attacking midfielders will have to help with the midfield’s defensive tasks, and receive the ball and transform defence to attack.
1. Four frontline players
This requires two attacking midfielders (Mohamed Salah and Mohamed Abu Trika) and two strikers.
One of the attacking midfielders (Probably Abu Trika) will have to pull back in assist to midfield, look to apply pressure on Ghanaian midfield and receive the ball to transform defence to attack.
Looking at three consecutive African Nations Cup trophies, Egypt’s frontline operates better when playing with two strikers.
The presence of two strikers gives a team many advantages, foremost of which is constant pressure on the weak Ghanaian backline. One of these strikers has to assist Ahmed Fathy in his difficult task of facing off against strong Ghanaian midfield. Mohamed Nagy “Gedo” is a natural striker who has the ability to fulfill such defensive tasks; he is a poacher who does not lack for goal-scoring talent. The other striker should be a well-built target man. A target man is a player who looks to receive balls in the final third of the pitch and feed it to other players as Salah and Abu Trika. This target man will have to lie deep and present a similar model to what Waris presented in the first game. This has Amr Zaki written all over it.
1. Faith
Bradley is no psychotherapist, but if he can give his players faith in themselves and in the possibility of overturning the odds, bolstered with the enthusiasm of 30,000 fans in 30 June stadium, the miracle just might happen.
