Akwasi Appiah has done well this time but he must look ahead and do more. However, this does not ring like poetry because it does not sting.

Well done Akadu. Wish the politicians and other leaders will take a cue from Akwasi Appiah and his stalwart defenders of the Ghanaian flag

It is shocking this lady believes these things she's been writing here qualify to be called poems. And why all the praise showering on akwasi appiah all of a sudden? Because of the 6-1 victory? What a joke!

This poem would have been better without the introductory part. You should have let the poem talk for itself and the reader make whatever meaning she wants to make out of it. The introduction now forces the reader to see something in the piece that he wouldn't have seen without it. And she wouldn't have seen it because nothing ties the text to the directives you give ahead of reading it - i.e. what you direct him to see isn't in the text. Well, you know that with your frequent refs to signifiers...
Every Ghanaian loves a winner on the football field. If Appiah had failed, they would have vilified him as much as they are now hailing him. They would do the same for a white coach too!!! You stretch the difference too much and you are trying to justify it by binging in the very "inconsequential" act of the President not congratulating him (perhaps to add a partisan political slant to it which only people who follow your arguments will realise). Some people say he did but the best thing for the president to do is to wait after the second leg when we have qualified to properly congratulate Appiah for taking us to the World Cup. What if the Pharaohs beat us 5-0 (God/Allah forbid!) and we don't make it???
Ever since Nkrumah appropriated (we were really the first and no one else could take it...) the word "Black" to signify the black African performance, some people have pointed out the "contradictory" in attaching the word "star" to the word "black". Isn't it a bit of an oxymoron? Ever seen a star that is black? Ok, ok, ok, ... we understand what is meant. We are black, and we are stars, and we shine. Ebony can be black but when polished well and varnished, it shines. Yes, it shines...
The joke in "Christian" Ghana is that God gave us the victory - for a game played on a Muslim holy day! This will make the Egyptians, who are more Muslim than the Ghanaians say: "If it weren't for God/Allah, they wouldn't have won!!!" So, you see, it wasn't their fault that they lost. I go die ooo...

......."that new African is ready to fight his own battles and show that after all, the black man is capable of managing his own affairs!" - OSAGYEFO DR. KWAME NKRUMAH.
That was the reason why he asked C.K. Gyamfi to coach the Black Stars.......
and the rest was history.
He believed in himself and his fellow African to do as equally good as any HUMAN BEING on this planet earth!
Now, the GFA for once, have taken on the mantle and given Kwasi Appiah the chance to show his capabilities of handling the Black Stars.
It's rather unfortunate that we still have some humans in our society who don't believe we are capable of achieving anything at all....even though all our successes with the Black Stars have been delivered by OUR OWN.
If we can beat the U.S, the Czech Republic and many other nations in football......why can't we believe we can beat them to technology too? And believe we can achieve great heights in everything humanly possible.
Fellow Africans!!! Especially Ghanaians....WE are capable of doing anything to utilize rich natural resources to develop in our own way as GOD has already bestowed upon us, by being creative, innovative and positive in everything we do.
Nothing is impossible! That is if and only if, we believe it's possible!
We do NOT need to go around asking other humans to do things for us! It is time we close that chapter Nkrumah tried to erase from our minds, in order to believe in who we really are.
I believe it may take more than speeches to achieve OUR full potential and PURPOSE in this life.
What is required of us, is to apply a bit of COMMON SENSE and taking the necessary steps to unlock the blockade of unbelief in our enslaved minds....
And that should be done through the overhaul of our so-called education system we have in place.
It is a colonialist system that has enslaved our minds into believing we are inferior and as such incapable of achieving anything from ourselves.
Yes! We need to change OUR thinking into believing that anything from beyond our shores is better than ours..........even the TOXIC WASTE being dumped on our lands and in our seas.
WAKE UP! GHANA! WE CAN GO AHEAD AND WIN THE WORLD CUP IN BRAZIL! BELIEVE IT!
GOD BLESS GHANA!
AFRICAN FOREVER!
