  The SOU should without delay publish the list of these companies imediately, it is the right of the Ghanaian to know of these companies,a dead line is appropriate BUT publishing the list now will be a deterrent to future "rapist" of mother Ghana,they should also pay the fees with accrued interest and fines as a further warning to others, this can't be swept under the carpert, i strongly urge HIS MAHAMASHIP 4 8, TO TAKE INTEREST IN ISSUES OF THIS NATURE AND MAKE SURE JUSTICE IS SERVED TO GHANAIANS WITHOUT FEAR NOR FAVOR.

  How can such large companies pay only a small amount than the man/person who has toiled hard to send household and personal items for their use be charged so-o-o-o-o-o-o much that if these were not needed would have been abandoned. It happens we all know it, the managers know it but what do they do about it? The so called customs officers are the real crooks. They are wicked, callous and above all GREEDY only there for what they can get. It is so shameful that such immoral activities can be allowed to go ahead. It breaks my heart to read about such greed bleeding and breaking Mother Ghana.

  As a complete outsider, I will say there may be some truth to your argument. Business people in America complain about every tax. They want to make money without any obligation to the state. Having said that, I just sent a broken computer to a friend. I paid $92 (US) dollars to send it to him. Your post office is asking for $50 more dollars before he can have it. The package weighs only 10 pounds. If $92 dollars carried the package thousands of miles across the sea, how could it cost more than half that amount for your post office to receive it? This would be a disincentive for me to give to my friends in Ghana.
  
  Does Ghana have a computer chip maker? What local business is this protecting? If my friend can fix this old computer, he can use it to serve others and make a profit. This helps your economy.
  
  If charges like this are in-place only to raise cash and lacking any economic strategy, then Ghana is doomed to stay one of the world's poorest nations.
  
  Policy should not be made by skirting laws. It should be made through open and direct dialogue.

  This is worry-some. Every country struggles with the problem of poor upward mobility; the rich get richer, the poor get poorer. Unless the rich are held to the same standards and limitations as the poor, this won't change.

  Two things are essential: integrity in government and opportunity for everyone. The more powerful people can cut corners that less powerful cannot, the less opportunity there is for all.
