There is so much information out there and if he had done a bit of reading around the subject he would not have put out this wishy-washy article. What Okoampa is doing here is to blame Ken Dapaah and KT Hammond whilst trying to absolve Nana from any blame. I know Okoampa is no friend of Kufuor but let it be clear to him that Kufuor's NPP cannot be blamed for this mess. To me the NDC is trying to blame NPP govt and this must be resisted but this piece coming from Okoampa confuses the issue. I will suggest to Okoampa to listen to the Joyfm's newsfile programme of 25/10/13, particularly Kwaku Baako's submission to be educated on the matter.

  Prof., let's face the truth. Your main reason for putting in this piece could well be to defend the name of your relative and political idol, Nana Akufo-Addo. I seriously doubt that had the apex of the dart been pointed to some other NPP Official, you would have been motivated, like the way you are, to show this much "patriotism" about the Drill Ship saga.
  
  Just look at the way you brought emphasis to bear on Prez. Kufuor, when you referred to the NPP Administration. That was very coy to encourage a blame shift to Kufuor, even if there were any real blame his Administration had to share in this scandal. There has been only one NPP Administration in our Political History that served two terms consecutively. Everyone knows that it was Kufuor who led it. So, was parenthesizing his name in citing the NPP necessary? Come on!!
  
  Anyway, I agree that we need to retrace our steps to the beginning when the Ship was purchased to fully understand or appreciate the circumstances that led to its sale. However, it is the sale of the Ship that imparts an immediate sense of loss to us, and therefore needs greater focus. There could have been the atrocious characteristic side issue of some 10% or more commission involved to enrich the original local signees of its purchase contract. But once the Ship was home with us, even it was not being actively engaged, it held some retrievable value. It might even have begun to make us some money when we finally found Oil.
  
  But it is gone and cost us a double dose of financial loss. And we need to dig deep to reveal who might have benefitted illegally from its loss.
  
  Regarding the Power of Attorney, Mr. Hammond was so empowered by someone who had the authority to give him that legal standing. The fact that his Ministry was at par in rank of political stature with the Attorney General's does not necessarily mean Hammond could simply demand such powers and be granted automatically. Besides, it is worth knowing what the then Attorney General, Nana Akufo-Addo, legally thought of the case, or did on it, to culminate in the execution of the sale.
