When settlers think that because the indigenous people have been generous and accommodating they think that somehow nobody owns the land.
Iddi Wuni, Jnr, please advice your kinsmen to accept the reality so that peace prevails. After all the Kusasis are not asking you to pack and return to Up Mountains. After all most of you are children of Kusasi women. We don't want Johnson Kombian to waylay and teach you one or two lessons on your way to your ancestral land.
By the way, don't you know that all the troubles are always started by Mamprusi youth, mostly uneducated and unemployed? And they always start it on Bawku market days when they know that Kusasis have come with goods!
To end violence in Bawku, I advise Iddi Wuni, Jnr, to set up a foundation to teach Mamprusi youth to:
1) stop criminality;
2) accept the reality that in any land there is only one indigenous tribe, and in the case of Bawku the Kusasis are the indigenes and that Mamprusis are settlers just like Moshies, Zabramas, Hausas, Ashantis, white people, Chinese and Indian galamseyers etc

If the youth on both sides are told the truth, not one-sided truth, we will have peace in Bawku.
For instance, it will be very difficult to say the Kusaasi's (who feel now that they have their independence) should give up their chieftaincy. Again the youth on the Mamprusi side who for now are been told stories of how they ruled when they were chiefs with luxury and benefits wants it back.
For me i see that none of us can shoot our way to take the chieftaincy or consolidate it. And no President will want to turn what we have now, so we need to talk our way through. What if we ask for powers haring where the Current Bawku Naba has in his palace a seat for the Mamprusi, the Bissa, Moshie, and all major ethnic groups who are selected within the ethnic group and presented to Bawku Naba for the to represent their interests in the development of Bawku in peace. I wish us all well in Bawku.
My other concern is that if we all as members of this great town Bawku are determined to stop this war we can do it our self without any support. For instance we always know who did what and when in both sides of the warring factions but will not tell the security agencies formally. May be because the security have personell collecting this information in the public but not acting. But i believe when security agencies provide good protection for informants and the reward system, they will gather more information on the criminals causing the fighting for the gains they make.

2. KUs do not know their so called chief is a YANGA.
3. KUs do not have a history and that in particular is a shame.
4. They copy chieftaincy and still ve no control of the central and hrt of Bawku which in itself is a shame.. they called themselves majority and still cant do nothing to the Mamprusis.
5. They ve a Yanga chief who cant even visit the market centre, its a shame.
6. They copy mamprusis to wear smock and yet if they wear theirs a mamprusi wears same smaock one can clearly see de difference btn a pig and a mamprusi.
7. The Kusasi naba cant even control his ppl no wonder they referred to as animals.
8. KUs claim to be educated but upon that all they cant reason beyound their nose.
9. It is always the empty barrels that make the most noise, and KUs are gud at propaganda. Tell Ghanaians your history. One day the truth about the real owners of Bawku are which is a mamprusi name and not BOK which is a kusasi name.

I strongly agree that the problem is about settlers trying to claim ownership of Bawku as somebody else commented. Let me explain a bit. Iddi, granted that you want to claim ownership of where you are now, do you think the indigenes will allow you? But if you accept them as land owners you will have no problem. Look, it is understood that the Mamprusis ruled Bawku before but was purely colonialism just as Ghana was colonized. In any case, the British cannot despite their long years of rule today claim Ghana and same must be considered for the Kusasis. It is when we all reason this way that we can really appreciate the issues in Bawku well.

I feel ashamed of this town that has given my region which otherwise would have been the most peaceful region in Ghana the bad image of violence and war. I always wish you were part of Burkina Faso.
