The need for long-term planning is very well known. What is lacking is the political will. Our politicians look up to a horizon a couple of years (sometimes even months) from election and prior to the next election. Our National Development Planning Commission has been consciously relegated to a remote island for political enemies. Policy. planning, implementation and evaluation are deemed unnecessary. Governance must indeed be all-inclusive and decisions made based on merit, not kleptocracy patronage.
