WE HAVE ECOWAS RIGHT? IF YOU ARE NOT COLLECTING ENOUGH DUTIES, WHY BLAME THE IMPORTER? IF YOUR GOVERNMENT IS NOT GETTING THE DUTIES, BLAME THOSE WHOSE JOBS ARE TO COLLECT AND NOT THOSE PAYING. MR. MINISTER, YOU ARE BARKING THE WRONG TREE. THE DIRECTIVE OR LAW IS SINISTER AND IT WILL NOT ACHIEVE ITS INTENDED PURPOSE.

The writers probing and revelations must be interrogated thorughly and dispassionately by the government through a Post Implementation Review, PIR. This will help access the apparent success or potential failure of the policy. I was hoping to read some alternative suggestions which would bring value to the Ghanaian economy. Serious importers could have diverted their imports through the Ghanaian ports after this directive was given in October. I only hope it is not another case of useing the press to loud mouth a planned speculation to thow the economy off gear as similar article were published same time last year. We must ask EOCO to investigate all such speculators who rehatch old stories during the year-end to cause panic purchase of US dollars.
