  'Ayigbe' is a common word used by people to describe an Ewe. 'Djulor' in Ga means thief. 'Ayigbe djulor', therefore becomes Ewe thief. Why they generally go by that name is that, there used to be a time, especially in the Greater Accra Region, when it was a regular scenario, a daily occurrence, to witness incidents involving thieves who carried Ewe names. These petty thieves were caught stealing frivolous items, sometimes cassava, corn, fowls, goats, from backyard gardens, farms, markets and places like that. And they were paraded on the streets, amidst beatings by an angry mob chanting 'odjulor, odjulor!. But why did you cast such an insinuation, instead of admitting for once, that this a good, thought-provoking article? All Ewes can't be thieves, yes, they've created all sorts of animosity and hatred for themselves, because of the seemingly rough, dirty tribal game they perpetually play on Akans, resulting in equal response of resentment. We've seen Akans write good articles like this one on ghanaweb, and Ewe contibutors damning and rubbishing them even when they mean us well. Whatever it is, sometmes it's not the people who write that matter, but the import of what they write. And I think Sodzi, Ewe as he may be, has presented a brilliant, magnificent write-up and ought to be patted on the back. It has to be a personal, individual effort, endeavour, exercise to say no to corruption. One must possess a strong character, and good moral upbringing is another factor.

  I wish many will take the issue at hand serious. We are fortunate to have this medium to assist those in charge to look at ideas to assist them in developing the country.

  I can't agree with you more. Unfortunately, when cogent deliberating on cogent issues are discussed, a lot of mischievous people make fuss about it instead of deliberating on the advantages. A lot of useful articles on ghanaweb, have been rubbished, made to look useless, because of unwarranted party politics, tribal sentiments, etc. As a people, what commitments do we have in ensuring that we hold our leaders accountable? That when they lose focus and direction, we put them back on track? The level of corruption in this country is killing us. Sodzi's article is a must read one, and he has a good command over the English Language, too. Nipping corruption in the bud requires a personal, individual commitment and effort, that can be achieved.

  You are right, charity begins at home. Begin by not giving a bribe and not taking a bribe. Try this monthly and encourage your friends to do the same gradually we will get control of this situation.
