You mean parliament has pass the law already to allow GM seeds into the country? Have they had the opportunity to watch "Seed of Death" and "The World According to Monsanto" documentaries? So they have sent us like sheep to slaughter. Why, when it is better to struggle with poverty rather to die slow death in pains from the effect of GM seed.
No, for this in particular we need a referendum. A mass education on the topic then the referendum. Hence they should not start any implementation until the people have decided.

Unfortunately our parliamentarians said we got ignorance. How can a nation empower another to control the seeds needed for her agriculture by another nation is it not stupidity and suicidal. The people who trained these parliamentarians said their students have nothing in the head, yet they continue to make their heads empty. When you have a confused intellectual, then you are in for a big trouble and that is the fate of Ghana and Africa, or may I say even countries like where there are yellow, spring and velvet revolutions.

My dear Sage,
I normally don't feed trolls, but the way you put it is the reason why Monsanto is buying peer-reviewed scientific journals and suppressing inconvenient truths!
As Claire Robinson, editor of GM Watch and GMO Séralini, puts it,
"[D]id Hayes actually read the Seralini paper before retracting it? Because if he did, how come he doesn’t know what the paper says? Hayes not having read the paper is, of course, the charitable interpretation of his actions, because if he is familiar with the paper’s contents it might be hard not to conclude that he has deliberately misrepresented them.
Séralini‘s methodology was more rigorous than that of Monsanto’s, while generating just as much data per group.”
There is nothing in the COPE guidelines that justifies or requires the retraction of the whole paper.
The fact that … former Monsanto employee [Richard Goodman] was involved in discussion of the (re)review of the Séralini paper from the start, and up until Séralini directly requested that this stop, means that he could not only have influenced the discussion but even more crucially the selection of the review panel members."
Sincerely,
Pur'gu Saarpe! Esq,.

I am an Italian holidaying in Ghana, my country is the 9th EU nation to ban monsanto GMO corn approved by European Food Safety Authority. Poland was the 8th. the rest were, Austria, france and Germay. what you Ghanaians can do is to organise yourselves and destroy the farms where ever the GMO crops are cultivated. do not rely on your Government officials monsanto has bribed them with huge money. this is the game plan of the Illuminati New World Order to depopulate the world

Our Politicians have, thus far, proven inadequate to steer the Country successfully into the future, with the Parliament ostensibly watching from the sidelines their wanton dissipation of our resources, and courting Economic re-colonization of our Nation. Such is the threat of any wrong decision by our Legislature on the GMO debate.
Please, allow me to encourage everyone to visit the NHPR website to listen to an interview first-hand. The interview was on the Program called "Word of Mouth" presented by Virginia Prescott, on December 11, 2013.
The guest and interviewee, Elizabeth Royte, wrote the article discussed for ModernFarmer.com, only 5 days earlier. The jist of the message in that interview is that even here in the USA, farmers who initially embraced GMOs have begun to abandon them to return to original seeds.
Our Politicians must not sell our right to grow our own food to some foreign entity under the guise of advancing Scientific modernization of our Agriculture. We have almost lost our inalienable right to clean Drinking Water. Hardly can anyone drink from any natural Spring or pond or stream in Ghana, today. Neither do people have enough proper Community owned pipe borne Water. Everyone seems to depend on commercialized sources for sachet or bottled Water. Are we going to forfeit our right to grow our own seeds for food, too? We already have been exposed to the invasion of foreign species by the accident of accepting donor foods, and processed feed for our poultry.

The agribusiness companies and the American Embassy know our MPs are barely literate. A lot was hidden in a 94 page document that was given to them to read, and like lemmings they are ready to sign the Plant Breeders' Bill that will make them redundant! All legislation regarding settlement of Plant Breeders' litigation will be taken outside of Ghana! Its all there in Clause 23. So did the Minister for Justice/Attorney General did not read and understand it too? How did these idiots into power?

The bottom line is Africa and especially Ghana can feed itself. We just need to get off our lazy asses and farm efficiently and to me, GMO is not the only answer to our food shortages!
Our authorities and most of our politicians are under the payroll of these manufacturers of GMOs.
