Rand of South Africa refused the obligation to go after the NPP Thieves to retrieve their debts. The thieves such as Appiah Minka owe more than Ibrahim Mahama.

The big difference is that Fortiz offered a better deal to buy all the liabilities not just Assets including all the debts NPP apparatchiks owe Merchant Bank.

Appiah Minka does not owe a dime to this Bank and if you have any brain in your head, you would have known that even if the government does not recover a dime from the 70 million debt owed by debtors, Rand offer still comes up as the best with just the 25% ownership given to the government plus 55 million dollars more.

Yes Rand refused to take Ibrahim debt as part of the purchase and that makes it more profitable for the government to have sold the Bank to Rand and still retrieve from Ibrahim what he owes.

It has now come out the government or the new owners of the Bank has accepted 28 million dollars as full payment Ibrahim owed making the guy walk away with 10 milliom dollars.

A commercial court has ruled that anti-graft campaigner Andy Awuni lacks the locus to sue against the sale of Merchant Bank Ghana to Fortiz private Equity Fund.

Lawyer for Fortiz, Tony Lithur argued in court that Mr Awuni could not take the action because he is neither a trustee nor board member of majority shareholder SSNIT.

The court upheld Lithur’s argument.

Judge Sophia R Benasko Essah said granting Mr Awuni locus will be tantamount to power parity and a usurpation of the Board’s powers by any SSNIT contributor.

Counsel for Awuni, Egbert Faibille Jr., says they will appeal against the ruling.

Fortiz is acquiring a 90% stake of Merchant Bank for Ghc90 million.

The Fund was chosen over an earlier offer of Ghc199 million for 75% shares by South Africa's FirstRand.

Awuni has described the sale as a "dash".

Organised labour, led by the Trades Union Congress recently kicked against the sale.

The sale of Merchant Bank has been shrouded in controversy over the past few months.

Rand Bank of South Africa wanted to offer higher amount to buy the bank with just 75% share and later realized Ibrahim Mahama's loan could not be recovered and stopped the deal, then that was their problem not that some officials accepted bride from Fortiz and offered them the deal. And you must get your mathematical figures right, no bank was ready to pay 199 million dollars. It was 99 million and 75 million dollars.

In 1979 and in JJ's time carrying 50 cedis was a crime and many innocent but brainy people lost their lives, just for being patriotic/hardworking citizens. This hungry looking young man killed businessmen and stole all their monies and still stealing to quench his blood sucking appetite.
Power was handed to Kuffour and he too improvise a means to steal, by going HIPC and converting some currencies. Though he did not kill to steal, he stole anyway and JJ can attest.
Then came the snail President " may he rest in peace" and the Woyome $50 million saga, judgment debt rock the National coffers to the tune of over $1 billion.

In fact, he was relegated to the backwoods like several corrupt African leaders during Mandela's funeral despite the role Ghana played in the apartheid struggle. Why did Kufour Governement throug SSNIT approved such hefty loans for Ibrahim Mahama and later turn round to heap the blame on President Mahama simply because he's related to him?
