  Again, Okoampah Ofui, you don't know the English that you profess to teach. You said:

  Look, my friend, the idiom is simple: Use the possessive case of the personal pronoun whenever referring to any action by somebody. Thus, instead of saying: "the first step ought to have been him writing..", you say "his writing..."
  
  Or in a better way, to say the best thing for him to do was to write.....
  
  Or still, break down the entire structure into more than one to communicate clearly.
