I could imagine Japanese automakers going to great lengths to make sure this tragedy never happens. They have already placed some contraptions in the automobile trunk to only to allow children to escape but also kidnapees to free themselves.
Our local inventors, entrepreneurs, and industrialists should be brainstorming:
-perhaps a carbon dioxide sensor in the car (if CO2 becomes excessive the car's horn goes off)
-excessive moisture detector to signal an alarm when there is no key in the ignition
-doors automatically lock as soon as RFID detects ignition key is outside the car or when weight sensors in the seats detect all seats are unoccupied
-burglar alarm goes off if car doors opened while doors unlocked and no key in the ignition
-windows automatically roll down an inch if doors opened without key in ignition
-windows automatically roll down an inch if temperature inside the car exceed 80 deg F or oxygen sensor indicates a near-zero level
-car texts owner if doors get opened or reminds owner he forgot to unlock car
-weight sensor to trigger an alarm when a child (under 50 pounds) gets on the seat

The Rev Dr. Katanka of Christo Asafo should have no problem coming up with such contraptions to protect against danger to children.
Sometimes inventions must also be useful to humanity.

The parents of the deceased should be prosecuted for their negligence. This will serve as a wake up call to parents when it comes to the safety of their kids. There is too much i-dont-care in the system.
