Today Rawlings has admitted publicly that "some of the Commanders [shot dead] were innocent good people". Tomorrow, Rawlings may make another damaging "self-confession" concerning his past political life.

Let him stew in his own shit and face whatever comes to him. He does not even listen to advice because he believes that he alone knows best. He also thinks he knows what is best for himself. He goes around with a very strong security because he knows if he drops his guard, someone will do him in. But he, too, will die one day, whether naturally or by violent means. All die be die...

Rawlings knows that the guys shot were all innocent. What we know is that Rawlings was really not in favour of their being shot. But the guys who got him out of Akuffo's prison wanted those soldiers shot. They put pressure on Rawlings to sanction those executions. It was his (Rawlings' head) or the heads of the executed ones. What he failed to do as a leader was to prevent the execution of those people. Since he couldn't do it, the buck falls squarely on him. Today, he shouldn't be justifying those executions by saying the anger of the people was high. But JJ does not think like other people.

I can only write and ask for forgiveness from God for those who commited these murderous acts and finally ask for peaceful eternal rest for the innocent victims whilst extending God's blessings and mercies to the dependants of victims of these atrocities.

By his unwitting stupidity, Rawlings served the purpose of Western Europe well by keeping the unproductive status quo intact and preventing the kind of meaningful development that would have advanced the fortunes of Ghana into a strong state that can drive its economy on its own terms.

Mind you the Europeans still need cheap raw materials which they can only get from daft, corrupt and inept African leaders like himself and those who have succeeded him since then.

As a thank you gesture, they will never officially let him down and assist in any such scheme to bring him to book.

It is for the same reasons that contrary to their racist nature, they so very much revere Nelson Mandela - a Black man, even though most Africans cannot pinpoint exactly what Mandela did for them and why they adore him so much.

Besides, the possibility that one of the people who is alleged to be his father is either a Scot or Irishman, adds another reason why they wont sacrifice him for Africans.

Rawlings alibi for his continued freedom is weak and corrupt leadership across the political divide in Ghana.
