WHO IS A PLANT BREEDER AND HOW IS IT DIFFERENT AND BENEFICIAL FROM WHAT WE HAVE NOW. I WILL SAY IT AGAIN ABOUT THE INCIDENT OF A FARMER BEING SUED FOR HAVING GROWN CROPS BEING BLOWN ONTO HIS FARM BY THE WIND TO WHICH THE CROP OWNER THOUGHT THIS COMPANY STOLE
THEIR CROP. THIS IS WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN YOU HAVE COMPANIES HAVING PATENTS TO CERTAIN GENETICALLY MODIFIED CROPS. WE HAVE SOME OF THESE CROPS THAT ARE MODIFIED AND BELIEVE ME THEY APPEAR HUGE AND LOOK GOOD BUT NO TASTE. NOBODY KNOWS WHAT IT DOES TO THE BODY IF YOU CONSUME THESE CROPS FOR A LONG TIME. GOD CREATED THESE CROPS AND WE HAVE BEEN EATING AND GROWING THESE CROPS FOR AGES, WHY DO WE NEED A BREEDERS BILL FOR WHAT? PLEASE REJECT THIS BILL FOR WE HAVE NO USE FOR IT AND IF YOU PASS IT ,YOU WILL REGRET YOU DID SO IN THE NEAR FUTURE.

Why are people rushing to pass this bill into law? What about Freedom of Information Bill? We wait to see how far our sovereignty is going as a nation.

Despite your ridiculous accusations and well-funded fear-based advocacy campaigns, this bill will pass and GMOs will continue to be tested in Ghana. It's because there is no credible scientific evidence that GMOs are dangerous, and because they have a great potential to improve the nutrition and livelihoods of rural farmers. You had every opportunity to get an explanation of the law from the Attorney General. Just because you didn't like the answers, doesn't mean they are false.

How does it feel to be on the wrong side of history? I'm glad the law makers of this country will not be swayed by a few radicals that consistently use personal attacks, false statements, and undisclosed funding sources in their campaign.

Let me close with a toast- here's to science, the future, and relying on evidence instead of fear.

Mr Historian, well said, BUT when man wasn't greedy like today with the scientist heads up their bums, whilst producing additives into our everyday food that will preserve it for years, + all the E No, other chemical. since the end of WWII we have more cancers due to all the additives in the West. Now all this food is coming to Africa, look how the cancers rate is increasing. nobody really gives a dam about other peoples lives, they certainly don't care about the future generations, maybe because they have money to live organically. maybe you do now. What would your reaction be if your wife or child ate some of this and had a reaction, would you still be in favour then? think of those who can afford hospital bills.

When the government realizes that we will have to depend on scientists alone to acquire seeds for sowing and that those crops cannot help the farmer be self dependent, then we shall learn who was right and who was wrong. However it would have been too late. We will soon go to the West to buy yam seedlings to plant in Ghana. If we do not work hard to see through what others are deceiving us to do so as to remain perpetually dependent on them, we shall certainly pay a very high price for our short sightedness.

We are playing GOD to much, we don't learn, look at cloning, always side effects. YES people in the West are no going back 30 + years to organic farming. 2008 USA rice was found to have GM rice, JAPAN Europe banned it, where did it end up AFRICA. Wake up, Sadly MONEY talks, not only in CASH but kind know body knows about, only GOD, those who cause problem for other pay a heavy penalty.

You want seeds from America to eat before you live your lives. Are you normal? If the president can't do the job, he should give way and allow someone to do it. We can't allow this dangerous situation to hatch. We've been living as Ghanaians for centuries, have we ever needed a plant breeders bill to live our lives? Why can't politicians think properly when dealing with these multinational companies? You don't develop a country like that.
