A.B. ASSENSOH who was part of Nkrumah's delegation to Guinea has written extensively about how Limann worked for the NLC and helped to persecute CPP activists in neighbouring countries. Limann was not a CPP man or Nkrumaist like many people mistakenly claim. He did nothing for CPP or Nkrumaists. He had plans to sell off Nkrumah's state enterprises before Rawshit did. Under Limann CPP was a banned party and all its symbols. He didn't return CPP's seized buildings and financial assets.
He was a clueless alcoholic who paid off the AFRC criminals in foreign exchange. But they went ahead to overthrow him anyway.

The problems Limann met in government were really serious. I've been told the economy had been so mismanaged by the previous government that basic provisions could not found on the market.

The 10% kick backs was re-introduced by them again. It was the CPP who brought this 10% into the NADECO FUND. Our transportation problem started during that time when Harry Sawyer was the then minister for Transport. He brought TATA buses to replace the NEOPLAN and spelt our doom. During Limann's time , sugar, cement, flour to mention only a few were sold at REGIONAL OFFICES. The old guards of the C.P.P took the nation to ransome , people like Nana Okutwere Bekoe, Krobo Edusei, Kofi Batsa thought Ghana was their personal property. A plane full of party members came to seek loan in the U.K. AND THE HOTEL BILL ALONE FINISHED THE MONEY. Import licenses were given to cronies just like C.P.P days. There was one week management course at the Centre for Management studies at OXFORD UNIVERSITY and Kofi Batsa was sent to do the course ,he was a form four leaver. There was opposition out-cry but the P.N.P. just ignore it. Everything was at a stand still that was why that undemocratic hungry -looking soldier from no where came back to overthrow the democratically elected government of DR.LIMANN. There was no justification in the coup because he was given four years mandate and if people do not like him they will vote him out. DR. LIMANN could not control the old guards of the party because they put him there. DR. LIMANN was to stand on the ticket of PFP but his uncle IMORO EGALA persuaded him to lead the PNP. There was shortage of the so-called essential commodities on the market. All the money was stolen by AFRC. The should speak the truth , things were not moving just like present day economy. Blacks should learn how to speak the truth and that is our number problem. DR.LIMANN was overthrown without charge This was what the swindler said and I QUOTE ' Nobody should harm the president bring him alive where ever he is.' unquote.

The Rawlings coup against Limann was wrong, unjustifiable and treasonous. But Limann was no saint. Limann worked for the NLC military junta that overthrew Nkrumah under diplomatic cover as Head of the Research Bureau - the Intelligence Unit of Ghana's Foreign Service. His job, however, was to gather intelligence on Nkrumaists and CPP activists who were trying re-organize and overthrow the NLC junta from neighbouring countries.

Two wrongs do not make one right but it is correct to say that what Limann did to Nkrumah was also done to him by the opportunistic and criminal Rawlings coupists. PNP should stop the mythology of Limann being an Nkrumaist. Limann was recruited out of nowhere by his uncle Imoru Egala. It is a concocted lie that Limann was going to continue Nkrumah's projects. The truth is Limann had plans to sell all the state assets created by Nkrumah long before Rawlings implemented his own dongomi plan. Limann did nothing for the Nkrumaists and CPP. CPP remained banned and illegal under Limann!!! Even the CPP symbol and colours were prohibited.
Kotoka Airport remained Kotoka Airport.

Again I repeat the Rawshit coup was wrong. Limann's govt should have been allowed to continue as part of our democratic exercise. But is correct also to say that he supported one illegal coup and became the victim of the same himself. Such is life!

And as I have said before, Ghana’s tribal atmosphere has been made worse by Kufour's ignorance and lack of foresight or moral principles. Is it not interesting that Kufour would take over government with his NPP to restore images of Danquah, Busia, with his delusions of grandiose proportion to restore the so-called big six after all those years but failed to honor the one person who earned the right and became a president of Ghana. In what capacity, role or national value did the member's of Kufour big six play in the lives of modern day Ghana with exception of Kwame Nkrumah? Yet Kufour in his dead wrong tribally induced wisdom ignored what should have been obvious had Kufour been a principled man desiring of the elder statesman title fools in Ghana continues to confer unto him.
Yes Limann era members of parliament and people in the executive offices may have been corrupt to the bone but the same scrutiny would bring an axe upon the necks of Kufour, Atta-Mills and other leaders in between including the shameless and blood thirsty J.J. Rawlings and his spouse. The judgment standards brought forth under the J.J. Rawlings hunta will not be kind to J.J. Rawlings and all his men.
J.J. Rawlings must than his stars to have maximized use of legislation via the ignorance of parliamentarians to indemnify himself and members of his cabal in the bogus Ghana constitution.

Kufuor, like so many infamous opportunists of our political history, was part of the Rawlings PNDC! Yes, I know some will say in his defense that he did resign before the end of his appointment, but he nevertheless was part of that bloody regime in its initial and most ruinous stage. We have a veritable "tradition" in Ghana of so-called intellectuals aligning themselves with military regimes for all the loot they can amass. And there is no crime they will not be complicit in. After the 66 coup some academics complied with and participated in the burning of Nkrumahist literature. Yes, Ghanaian academics did not find it anathema to engage in book-burning in 1966!
