  Beautifully written and factually accurate.Trouble is, our base,servile and useless politicians are more concerned about "buggery rights" being dictated by the WEST than the evil and despicable acts of "trokosi& witchcraft which is entrenched in our societies and destroying innocent lives.

  Women have always played an essential role in the preservation of African culture even though woman’s right and woman’s being have always been taken for granted. Traditional societies in pre-colonial times had spheres of power and influence for women in closely-knit organizations that helped them maintain a voice an example is Yaa Asantewa.
  
  Modernism has its merits but with its new culture of ascendancy through education, white-collar jobs and money-driven economy relegated women down the ladder. Ironically with women education also came exposure and awareness and their inevitable reaction. Feminine writers like Ama Ata Aidoo have helped to narrow this perception in a big way but a lot is still yet to be done.
  
  Now that global attention is on the right of the woman and the girl child and the questioning of some of our outrageous customs and practices, it is now time to do the right thing through education by eliminating some of these hateful practices. Francis' intellectual approach must influence the need for Ghanaian scholars to delineate Ghana's gender construction within and outside religion in line with modernity.
