  I am even surprised somebody is stupid enough to think we should spend such an amount on one person to go and watch football in Brazil. Have we lost our minds? $13,500 can set up a good business for one and his family to live on. The same amount can build a small house in our fishing and cocoa growing areas to attract the youth back to farming and fishing.
  
  Even sending 1000 supporters will cost $13.5 million dollars. Is it worth it for a poor country like Ghana to even think about doing this? The powers that be will just hand over these tickets to their families and friends.

  The practice whereby succeeding governments spoonfeed, OOPS! sponsor or babysit football fans/supporters to cheer the GBS must stop now.
  
  It appears governments have got these two words: 'supporters and fans', all mixed up. Being that, these two words
  have different functions to perform.
  Supporters:
  These are collective individuals that have one accord. And that is:, to voluntarily help, and or assist their darling team to overcome their opponents in many folds. Some of which are but not limited to: must always win, evolve and invent cat-calls, cheers, financing, gifts, and even boos that many a time, escalate into unwarranted hooliganism.
  In other words, supporters are apt to use their own monies, time and energy, to following the success of their bogey club based on love. Supporters even pay monthly dues to effect the smooth running of the union. Their main objective is a morale booster of the club. "Win or lose, they follow."
  
  Inadvertently, the club does not spend on its teaming supporters, so to speak, but the other way round.
  
  Fans:
  These are collective people who only follow a team out of sheer love. They have no innate obligation to dish out monies or follow the team to wherever it goes. Fans are not noisy like the supporters. They sit in the comfort of their homes, bet, argue as they watch their club play on television/radio.
  
  To this end, those people who wants to accompany the GBS to Brazil are the supporters and not the fans as explained above.
  In this connection, these collective supporters must evolve a way as to paying their own way in and out of Brazil by the usual stigma of supporting the GBS.
  
  It is therefore unwise,highly uneconomical, as it is counter productive for the teaming supporters to rely on government for the trip.
  
  The government,thru its swift protocol however, may elect to secure the supporters the most reliable transportation she could get, be it an aircraft or a vessel, to and fro and invite those interested to pay their way in, by using the government's free gesture if to say ferrying such a large number is even necessary.
  
  The suggestion from Deputy Nancy that, the government should instal large screens in every adjoining cities, towns and villages if embraced could be very laudable. In that way, the fans, as well as supporters for once, would feel more at ease with the 'Dumsor' govt.programme making sure the show of the 'wonderboys' in Brazil would be available to all and sundry,
  instead of a bias selection of own cronies and cohorts, all in the name of supporters union.
  
  That notwithstanding, the GBS will shine at any rate.

  It was Kufuor who started this evil practice of sending NPP supporters, including serial callers, to Germany for the World Cup. And since then successive regimes have been doing so too. It is unthinkable why we could waste scarce resource for political patronage.
  
  But the fact is that even if JM does not do it, if NPP ever gets the chance they will send the whole of the Ashanti Region to the tournament. You know they have no conscience and don't care about public opinion. When Kufuor was sending supporters to Germany, including cooks and drivers' mates, he ensured they were only NPP supporters.
  
  Kufuor has only left social cankers for us.

  Our economy has dwindled and extra tax burdens have been put on the ordinary Ghanaian to sustain the national coffers. There had been increase in VAT, utility bills and even as far as desperate proposals to tax tithes in churches.Sadly, our situation is likened to an individual who is striving to fill a leaking tank.Oh mother Ghana,doesnt we have to fix all the leaks first before trying to fill the container? its common sense, fix the leakage before even trying to fill the tank, Ghana.
  talking of leakage, even the world powers, USA, RUSSIA, CHINA, JAPAN, GERMANY ETC, doesnt sponsor fans to any of their games, not even Britain, who founded football.Ghanaians are one of the most travelled individuals to every part of the world, even in Papua new Guinea and Iceland. Let the fans in these respective countries and well to do Ghanaians who can sponsor their own trip cheer for our team. It doesnt make sense spendind even 2000dollars on a foot soldier who cannot cater for his family back home. STOP DEPLETING OUR COFFERS UNNECCESARILY. Every Ghanaian want to go to Brazil and if the state cannot afford all then let individuals bare their own cost.

Brazil is amiable people, but is very difficult place to live. Cost of living in many places, especially Rio de Jenairo and Sao Paulo is very high. Their infrastructures is still in developmental stage, for instance the only means of transportation from Manaus to Rio and other cities is by air. Once you airlift these supporters how are you going to transport, feed and house them? Ghanians behaves as if their national survival is anchor to football games.   Becos of world cup North Americans now know the difference between GHANA and GUYANA. North Americans now treat you with respect as a ghanaian and African. The world now knows that Africa is not all about diseases and war and only world cup can make this a reality ,thankz to Kwesi Nantakyi and the Ghana government.for this reason the governments the world over struggle with their meagre income to sponsor this event.The whole world is watching you.
