It is such a shame! How the nation is going backwards and the President, his ministers, DCEs and others in authority look on unconcerned. They are blind to everything except what puts money from the public purse into their accounts. It is really pathetic and shameful, to say the least. And we claim we want to develop as a nation. Tweaaa!
Look at our roads. The road to TOR in Tema from the main road is in such deplorable state that roadusers rather use the sides of the roads, a development that has led to the destruction of the hitherto green surroundings. A road to the nation's only refinery and we are talking about just one mile stretch of road. Nobody cares!
The road from Afienya to Kpong/Akosombo has developed very dangerous and life-threathening potholes. People in authority use it every day to go and enjoy money stolen from the nation coffers. Yet nobody cares!
There are vehicular traffic jams everywhere. It is true we are growibg in numbers and hence there is an increase in the number of cars ob our roads but in most cases the jams can be significantly reduced if the studies are done and necessary corrective measures taken. Nobody cares. Those in authority feel good, proud and 'big' dangerously driving on the side if the country whilst the average folk burns expensive fuel in unnecessary traffic jams.
Do we really have thinking leaders.? I am tempted to think most of leaders, including the President, overloads their bellies with fufu, banku, TZ, kenkey etc. etc. and go to sleep at work!

When the cats away the mice will play. This is very true in all aspects of our human endeavour.
Just as they say in the land of the blind the one eyed is the champion, this is just to emphasise the fact the we have been turned into a citizenry who appreciate mediocrity, where half a loaf is better than none. We are afraid of asking for our due because we have turned our democracy into partisan politics.
The saddest is that this agenda of depriving the people of an analytical mind and the ability to question anomalies is being perpetrated by elected leaders who benefited from a well structured educational system.
A developing nation must make educating it's citizenry a first priority. The engine of growth is driven by science and technology, research and development. This can only be achieved if and when our myopic leaders put emphasis on education, education and education.
In an analytical mind you will get descent and criticism, because one is able to analyse what is heard and seen, not just take what is heard and seen as gospel truth. We need a leadership that will empower the people to be discerning, people who can challenge issues and merits, with positive analysis.
We have been served with mediocrity for far too long that some of us are beginning to accept mediocrity as the norm. This need to change, that is why the PPP says lets use our purchasing power to develop our nation. Let us believe in Ghana that what is Ghanaian is good.

Every Ghanaian old enough knows how to talk. Most of us do listen to our self appointed think (more like thin) tanks, educated and political talking heads who mostly have nothing sensible or thought provoking to say except engage in meaningless finger pointing. In Ghana we do not know much about self sacrifice for the common good but we have and continue to learn and indulge in the evils that come with chasing after money by fair or foul means.
We have political leaders, from the J.J. Rawling's military government through J.J. Rawlings/Atta Mills era to the current administration where government property have been stolen, sold and bought on the cheap by officials and money stolen and mismanaged all in the name of government. The people that benefit the most from these giveaways end up building large expensive structures for themselves, their families and some for rent and or lease. The roads leading to these structures are however much to be desired. Tell me if smart people in civilized and developed western nations engage in this type of simple-minded foolishness? These political and educated thieves we have living in our midst engage in influence peddling to get their roads paved with government money as everyone and more commercially viable roads lay bare. In rich neighborhoods in Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi and elsewhere, land owners especially those Ghanaians in the Diaspora are willing to shell out obscene amounts to own land and yet refuse to pay the appropriate taxes to develop their land and or pay as a community to have their community roads paved in concrete or bituminous tar. We refuse to pay taxes but extract from the national government more service than we desire and then have the audacity to complain about a government overwhelmed with unpaid bills and or payments of worker salaries and or retirement benefits. Why must the national government struggle to meet payroll and its indebtedness to foreign governments , local vendors and to future development while Ghana's private transport owners abuse existing roads, make profits while they refuse to pay their fair share of taxes as the police becomes corrupted with bribes from these motor operators and owners?
We are truly shameless as we listen to opportunists who talk the good talk to win elections just so they can also have a crack at the national coffers where it is easy to steal and more likely to live free amongst us than the struggling vandal or thief who must also practice his or her craft to survive.
