True, Busia may be book brilliant but he was not really a great politician. He never even learnt the proper lessons from his many years in politics. In short, he was NOT a shrewd politician. I once heard him on the campaign trail in 1969. He spoke good English with good diction (for a Ghanaian) but the man really didn't know how to wow the crowd. And Ghanaians want their leaders to wow them - whether for good or for bad.

This guy has become, of late, a laughing stock. He is an apology to academia. Dr Tony Aidoo has contributed his quota in academia and yet channeling those competencies into helping his country.
Dr Aidoo, is a discourse analyst, descends heavily where necessary with his adept critical analysis of issues.
His competence, abilities, intelligence are star kingly clear for all to see.
That is why, people like some of us are worried he has to leave for The Netherlands.
Its a pity, a few illogical individuals have, all of a sudden, de-scaled of their academics, muddied themselves up and cloaked up in partisan colors just to gain some recognition? Of what benefit is that? How does Ghana benefit from that?
When Dr Tony Aidoo speaks, it reverberates, cuts across, sinks in, spreads, just because he makes a lot much more sense as he comes across as a perfect communicator!

I studied him extensively. He was an academic. He was respected by many across the world. I believe he would have impacted academia much better if he did not veer into politics.
Nevertheless, he did his part for his country!
