  When you were on top, you never complained. Why should Nigera be number one? Until recently where were they? Is the ranking based on only yearly African cup championship? Apart from the one time win by Nigeria recently, hasn't Ivory Coast got to the quarter semi and finals over the years? Haven't they qualified for successive world cups ? The points are cumulative and not one time continental championship.
  
  Football in Africa reflects how the economy and administration in General is in a country. Those with better economies and administration improve and vice versa. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying they become champions but improve. So if Ghana is declining on the ladder, blame Mahamas government and the administration. You look what is happening in Ghana now, do you have a cup winning mentality? Did people not rejoice when we did not win the recent African cup? Everything good or bad in a country starts with how the president motivates the nation. Rather put your house in order

Nigeria shud av de first spot n ghana,cote d'Ivoire n de rest y shud dey put ghana at dat position for diz non achievers countries to by pass us

  It's a fine sunny day in the forest; and a Ghanaian rabbit is sitting outside his burrow, tippy-tapping on his lap top. Along comes an European fox, out for a walk.
  
  Fox: "What are you working on?" Rabbit: "My thesis." Fox: "Hmmmmm. What is it about?" Rabbit: "Oh, I'm writing about how rabbits eat European foxes."
  
  (incredulous pause) Fox: "That's ridiculous! Any fool knows that rabbits don't eat foxes!" Rabbit: "Come with me and I'll show you!"
  
  They both disappear into the rabbit's burrow. After a few minutes, gnawing on a fox bone, the rabbit returns to his lap top and resumes typing.
  
  Soon an American wolf comes along and stops to watch the hard working Ghanaian rabbit.
  
  (Tippy-tap, tippy-tap, tippy-tippy-tap).
  
  Wolf: "What's that you are writing?" Rabbit: "I'm doing a thesis on how Ghana rabbits eat American wolves."
  
  (loud guffaws)American. Wolf: "You don't expect to get such rubbish published, do you?" Rabbit: "No problem. Do you want to see why?"
  
  The rabbit and the wolf go into the burrow, and again the rabbit returns by himself. This time he is patting his stomach. He goes back to his typing.
  
  (Tippy-tap, tippy-tap, tippy-tippy-tap).
  
  Finally a Brazillian bear comes along and asks, "What are you doing?"
  
  Ghana Rabbit: "I'm doing a thesis on how rabbits eat Brazillian bears." Bear: "Well that's absurd!" Rabbit: "Come into my home and I'll show you."
  
  SCENE: Inside the rabbit's burrow. In one corner, there is a pile of European fox bones. In another corner is a pile of American wolf bones. On the other side of the room a huge African lion is belching and picking his teeth.
  
  MORAL: It doesn't matter what you choose for a thesis topic. It doesn't matter what you use for your data. It doesn't even matter if your topic makes sense. What matters is who you have for a thesis advisor.

  If you don't understand how the variables work and you are not prepared to learn just forget commenting on the FIFA Rankings.To me the main purpose of the ranking is purely for marketing which helps the game.

  It has been observed Ghana overely on quarter final it reached in South African world cup to a self belief that it has done enough justice to maintaing or retaining a top ranked position of FIFA monthly ranking. Each time there is shake up in the positions on rankings; the usual arguments coming from Ghanaians is the quarter final performances of Black Stars in South Africa. These achivements were chorked four years ago and therefore cannnot be relevant for FIFA ranking not even one year after world cup. FIFA's standard measure in rankings is a current form coupled with current cummulative victories in matches sanctioned by FIFA and continental tournament achievements which Ghana has done nothing to improve on its past records.
  
  FIFA's rankings to the Ghanaian may not be credible now, but the question is how credible had it been, when Ghana continue to permanently occupy the 2nd position when the likes of Burkina Faso, Mali, DR Congo, Zambia and even Cape Verde outplayed Ghana in a continental AFCON tournament, yet Ghana remained unfairly stucked to FIFA 2nd position on Afrcan ranking. There are countries on African rankings tgat deserve to be far ahead of Ghana but are unfairly still below Ghana. Ghana should take a restrospective assessments of its achievements after South African world cup and they'll gracefully accept the current FIFA ranking in good faith. If Ghana discredits FIFA methords of rankings then Nigeria does not deserve where they are currently because they are current and reigning African Champions and have even in-between played 3 quality friendlies against Italy, Mexico and Venezuela, all of which they did not loose. In contrasts Ghana lost Japan and lost to South Korea, lost to Mali, Zambia and Burkina Faso over the ranking periods since 2010 but continue to unfairly occupy 2nd best in Africa. Ghana's case is one of if it's others, then it's alright but if it falls on Ghana then everything is wrong with it. Very unfortunate self deciet.

Think of CAN 2012 and 2013 and you will understand why Nigeria and Ivory Coast will rank above Ghana. If anyteam is above you, it does not mean that if you meet them tomorrow they will beat you by all means. Lets be analytic and objective

I don't think the writer of the article was only talking about Ghana dropping on FIFA ranking. If I'm not mistaken, he was talking in general about the flawed nature of the ranking system, and that involved all teams. Where did you have your education? Go back to school and learn how to analyze text before writing your nonsense! I read Ghanaweb every day!
