Nana Konadu is hugely off target with her off putting comments...of course the late Komla was a great reporter who was fortunate to have such a huge platform at the BBC to showcase his talents....in the same vein it is absolutely important to point out that Ghana has reporters both at home and abroad who are just as talented as Komla but who unfortunately haven't had the opportunity to demonstrate their skills.....everyone needs a chance to shine.
Konadu's comments smack of ignorance and show a complete disdain for the immense work done by great Ghanaian reporters of the 60s, 70s and 80s some of whom inspired some of us to become reporters, too.

Komla was a good journalist who did his work well. But he was NOT more talented than his colleagues at the BBC. I was impressed and proud as a Ghanaian when I first saw him on BBC World service. There was nothing extraordinary about him on the African service because there were many Africans like him there including some UK born Africans who were even better. It was the World Service showcase that really did it for Komla and catapulted him to worldwide "fame".
But for me, the excitement of him on World Service television quickly faded and I actually stopped listening to him for two reasons: 1. The BBC has become so increasingly mainstream that nothing distinguishes it from CNN or Al Jazeera which has poached some of BBC's seasoned journalists with greater experience than Komla. 2. Komla tried hard but still lacked the perfect British accent that I like to hear when I tune in to the BBC, something which even the Canadian born senior correspondent Lyce Doucet lacks. I know this is silly but I am one of those Ghanaians born before independence and grew up looking up to the English you heard on the BBC as the most perfect in pronunciation there can ever be - BBC English, the Queen's English, Received Pronunciation. Unfortunately, Komla didn't have it through no fault of his since he wasn't born and brought up in the UK. But for me, it did him in and I didn't listen to him any more.
Then the man died and we're all genuinely sorry for his personal loss and his loss as a fellow Ghanaian in a prominent space.
Then we all started praising and over-praising him and almost calling him a genius. Indeed we have overhyped his talents probably because we Ghanaians don't have many such people to choose from which is a sad reflection on us as a nation (but I think it's the untimely death that really stirred these expressions since tragic deaths, especially, make us lose our sense of proportion).
Then some people started making political capital out of his death. This is the lowest cut of all. This nauseous to some of us! If Okoampa were a sensitive person, he wouldn't be drawing out his paper fight with the Rawlingses over Komla's death. He would let Komla rest in peace and his memory free of any rancorous thoughts!

Just to answer to last statement; God does not want evil men like Jerry Rawlings (and the wife). They will stay here and rot here on Earth.

Sometimes such evil people live longer to suffer, pay the price of their wrongdoings. Because of your objectivity, being able to take the bull by the horn, the good-for-nothing NDC people wish you dead. We prophesy a long, healthy life for you, so that you can continue to be crusader for the people of Ghana. Those who wish you dead will be the first to be buried.

Tony, you're a BIG stupid fool. Apart from that, you're an illiterate, and illiteracy is a disease. Why is the world not fair? You think there's no God who rules the world? Where did you find in this article that suggested for a moment, that Akans/Ashantis are happy about the demise Dumor's death? Don't try to be mischievous, you stinky trokosi goon. People like you, tribal bigots, are nation wreckers. When are you going to stop fanning unnecessary tribal sentiments and hatred? As for late Prof Awoonor, the least said about him the better, not Dumor. It is what you do here on earth that people talk about after your death, good or bad. So if people said bad things about late Prof Awoonor, it wasn't borne out of malice, but out of what he did, wrote and said against the majority tribe. Maybe, you have no idea, so you talk rubbish. Fool! NPP is far better than NDC, so if NPP is a nation of primitive people, as you described it, then what is NDC? A Nation of Die-hard/Dangerous Criminals(NDC)!
