In politics, the language always gets ahead of the facts. Politicians are very good in making fairytale promises which they will never deliver. Who in their right mind falls for this political gimmick?

Nobody can hide the light and true destiny of the great nation of Akan. they use all kinds of schemes and tricks to undermine or deny a proper standard to us but we shall never surrender. we shall change and adapt as like the Israelis we are the chosen people of God and he in his great design has made us diverse but unified in spirit. the ashantis like the tribe of Judah are and will remain an integral part of our being to to attack any one part we all end up feeling it sooner or later. they have succeed in turning some of our chiefs and kings against us and work for their evil ungodly agenda but we still see clearly . God has brought us into the 21st century and with that a new system of governance and state of mind based on democracy since it is HE alone who blesses the individuals with the gift of leadership wisdom and justice irrespective of status at birth. he has shown us the blue print of the way forward in the bible and other holy books and the time has come to free ourselves from this man made bondage called Ghana. just as in the Ukraine we must fight so the truth will come out , fear not the battle as they will crumble like the walls of Jericho . cast away our so called fake leaders and politicians who are nothing but cowards and like our enemies fear even their own shadows . yes God has put a million fears in their empty bodies as he who does not fear the Lord , the Lord will ensure all fears of the world will reside in him. They threaten us with superstition , juju and what have you and we say fuck you and go to hell as the divine power is with us . Yes all the tribes of Akan are fingers on the same hands and God has ordained we remain united so our strength and light will be visible throughout the whole world and universe , our time has come . everyday its becoming clearer and clearer to all children of Akan that we must prepare mentally for a battle of freedom . they come with tricks that say we must take a non Akan as our leader because its nice ? do they not think that out of 30 million Akans we can not find sensible down to earth leaders and warriors to lead our own people to our own destiny? a govt of the people and by the people is what the 21st century democracy is all about . let them continue to play with the consensus and other figures that justify their fantasy and enable them to marginalize the participation of the Akan majority in the Affairs of their own land , to marginalize us thus preventing us to afford a better standard for our people . The had of God has given them pestilence after pestilence but they refuse to let our people go , soon they will be swept away like chaff in the hurricane of fury . Long live the republic of Akan and don't you forget it as now the Fanti speakers, Twi speakers, Ashantis and other tribes of Akan are now one .

Having read through the lines, this article can best be described as a junk and deficient of facts. How could he describe the President's promises that hasn't elapsed? Has he taken his time to research about the road projects to know the pace at which work progresses? The President is never a Propagandist, maybe people like him that want to paint him black and they would never succeed.

Azar, the President can make these promises because there is no proper accountability in Ghana. Politicians make these promises because no one will hold them to account for what they have done or did. The President failed to give proper account of the promises he made in 2013 State of the Nation address. For example, he said urgent steps had to be taken to reduce the public wage bill that was eating all the meat and leaving bones. Yet, he did not tell the nation the measures he had taken to reduce the public sector wage in the past year.

Again, politicians make these promises without telling the citizens how much such promises will cost, how it would be paid for and for how long. In other words, there are no measurable outputs and outcomes as well as time scales that such promises could be assessed against. That is why when his government is unable to pay feeding cost of boarding schools, essential materials for schools such as chalk are in short supply and schools are under trees with some school buildings becoming death traps, the President can promise free SHS for day students from 2015/16 academic year. I am not sure if by that time all schools under tree would have been eliminated.

He's the role model of a nation that has become a toxic mire of public and official corruption. What should we expect when the president keeps bad company made up of a bunch of corrupt and incompetent administrators, praise singers, sycophants, hangers on, idlers, etc. The president is a walking scandal all by himself. We are from Ghana. We don't expect much from our president who spends his time talking and doing nothing. I wish he will keep busy and acquaint himself with some leadership principles and also learn from this Indian proverb: "Listen, or your tongue will keep you deaf. "

This article is apt and it coincides with my thoughts anytime I hear the President speak. He never gives any speech without a dose of promises. Meanwhile he is silent on the progress of past promises.

Prof, you forgot about the 200 SHS's, which were to be built at 50 each year for 4 years. Now all are to be built within 18 months! Study our budget and ask yourself where the money is coming from.

The basic fact is that John Mahama is not a policy wonk. He has surrounded himself with novices and propagandists. They live in denial and the Ghanaian is so docile that he can get away with these empty promises. People are living the reality of hardships and they are being strangled but would not squeal.

The first time I heard Mahama speak was in the lead up to the 2008 elections at Adukrom. Before an audience of largely illiterates, he was trying to differentiate between the NPP and the NDC. He was saying that NDC was left of centre and NPP right of centre. I looked at the faces of the audience and they had no clue what he was talking about. I immediately wrote this chap off. Not because he could not win elections but because if he won, he would not have solutions to Ghana's problems.

He is now President and his speeches are still uninspiring. Instead of analysing problems, he is always describing them. This is a skill which, even is not required of 'A' Level students. Those who score low are those who describe but cannot analyse. We have a whole President who thrives on problem description and promises.

Ghanaians really have voted for John Mahama at their peril!

Those who could have got involved to explain things to those who did not know any better but chose to sit on the fence, also deserve him. The commentators, judges, stomach journalists and propagadists all deserve John Mahama.

I listened to one each of the presidential and vice presidential (his vice is a lot worse!) debates of Election 2012, and I still for the life of cannot understand how anybody could choose Mahama above even the CPP candidate.
The guy is simply no presidential material. His performace so far, with his "mbowa tsia" appointees and all, amply demonstrate his lack of depth. Just a disaster for Ghana!
