I urge all ardent pro-Nkrumaists to save this superlative script at a safe place and post it anytime the against pple rear their ugly heads again.
In fact, I was planning to send email to my comrades Ekow [Nelson] and Micky [Gyamerah] to post again their splendid write-up, which I had the privilege of editing for them before publication. There is more to the PDA than known to the general public, even though publications exist revealing some of those matters. For instance, the Djabanor C'ttee set up in 1967 by the NLC to investigate the disturbances in Anloga after the killing of Kotoka exonerated Nkrumah and the CPP from masterminding those detained from the town. The detainees were simply victims of local disputes falsely accused of grave national security offences, e.g., collecting money from Olympio to foment secession, which accusations, no sane govt can leave alone. That's why many were released from detention by the same Harlley and Deku, courtesy of my own father's intervention, and the person behind people being picked locked up himself when he sent, with the police, another batch of would-be detainees to Nsawam! He was also released together with those unlucky not to be released earlier after the coup. The CPP operatives DID NOT GO ABOUT hunting opposition members to imprison, simply because they oppose the CPP or Nkrumah. The Parliamentary hansards, as Fitch and Oppenheimer found to their mild surprise, speak for themselves about the robustness of criticism of govt. Even Gbedema went to Parl. to denounce Nkrumah before going into exile!
It is a pity these against people seem to be uneducated and so won't understand and appreciate what my brother Francis has written about democracy. I had pointed out in many such debates that within the period and paradigm that Nkrumah operated, one party state was even more democratic and closer to the original Greek form of democracy than the Western liberal democracy. What Prof. MacPherson called the "Third World Variant" in his classic broadcast to Canadian Radio which formed one of the recommended texts we used in the '70s at Legon, a form advocated by Nkrumah, is even closer to the Greek (i.e., Athenian)variant than the Communist variant, also said to be closer than liberal [plural] democracy. Original democracies were not based on competing parties!

None of Nkrumah's critics has had the guts, intellectual honesty, principled or sense of shame to dare explain why Ghana is where it is even after some 40 years of Nkrumah's absence. These critics prosper in this chaotic Ghana because the very ideology they promote flourishes when part of society is labeled/classified as inferior thus enabling their kind to control the social order. Why else would these critics see nothing wrong when they steal, cheat, hide, masquerade as intellectuals and yet engage in unpatriotic activities in Ghana while they sell Ghana's ignorant majority the very ideas keeping Ghana down even as they leach off us all?
