The Kente, Mahama and Dr. Nkrumah.
One thing our President has not learnt to do is to project the African Personality as the Osagyefo used to do, by proudly wearing his Kente, especially, on foreign visits, particularly on visits to the UN. Maybe we should require all our presidents and their wives to wear their resplendent Kentes on special occasions to project our rich culture.

Don't you realize that our salvation from a comatose economy and political mediocrity will neither come from one person from a particular region nor simply wearing a smock or kente? It'll not come from replacing one form of blustering, chicanery, roguery, ineptitude and corruption with another. Ghana of today is like a horror movie with millions of its citizens wandering on the outskirts of hope and it will take our collective efforts to salvage the economy and restore confidence and hope.
Oh how I wished you'd stay above the fray of prejudice and ethnocentric ugly noises that have permeated our political debate. Could you not for a good measure have chosen to err on the side of unity for progress sake? You could have said "You can make it from wherever you are, whoever you are; we are one people".
If what you're saying is the northerners' plan for the nation then sorry, you're building castles in the air. You'll fail big time.

For the mock to assume its real importance in our nation as a real battle dress, it is necessary that Ghanaians feel very proud and comfortable wearing it. It loses its significance if used during political events to show solidarity with Northerners. The smock looks smart to wear, and brings out the "macho" in men. I particularly admire the one won by Rawlings during Clinton's visit and also the one won by the Asantehene during his coronation. Why are these not being branded? We are waiting for some Chinese smart guys to ponce on the chance before we start chasing them. Let us promote the wearing of smock just as Nkrumah did.

A dress does not make a man! It is only an inanimate symbol. A propagandist who uses symbols to govern, rather than action -- that is what Mahama is. No-one us fooled. He is not a Northerner because of a smock. Actions speak louder than words. Let him give the North water. And schools. And hospitals. And roads. That is what Nkrumah was doing. Not stealing Ghana money and taking it to Dubai and then wearing a smock to prove he is a patriot or nationalist. Mahama equals_propaganda.Peruod.
