They become friends from their common hatred for Ashantis. And they all perished with their genocidal policies against the people of Ashanti with them. To my observation this applies to most educated Fantes, especially those who grew up in the Ashanti Region. I can mention a few of them with their Ewe counterparts....Atta milles, Kofi Annan, The Ahwoi's, the Afoko's etc and a few of the fante wives of prominent Ashante men. These fantes have turn against their Akan brothers (the Ashantis), who accepted them in their fold, lived and worked with them for generations. How ungrateful can they be. Now they have joind forces with the Ewes to spew out hatred them. People of Akans should be mindful of the times and the NDC Party. Now the northerners - who the Ashantis brought to civilization to work on their farms and in their homes have joined the fray. A lot of the current NDC policies are being established to weaken ashanti businesses and dominance of the Ghanaian economy. The capitation grant to make them unfit and unable to fit any other coming dangerous policy. The EDUCATED AND SERIOUS MINDED PEOPLE OF AKAN AND ESPECIALLY ASHANTIS SHOULD WAKE UP!!!!. If I were an Asante, I'd be very embarrassed, just as when I noticed a write-up apparently from an Ewe insulting ad nauseam all Asantes. Occasionally, I'd intervene and tell the person off, to desist from such blanket attacks
Very sickening these Asante bigots in the NPP! Perhaps, it is cos they don't know their own history and how they used to raid the other Akans to sell as slaves. And how they still look down upon the other Akans and say mean things about them behind their backs. An incensed Nzema I know told me that he hates Asantes when I told him I don't. He told me I didn't know what they say about the Sefwis and others who were their neighbours. If I heard and I was one of them, I'd want to go and hand myself, he said in anger to me. I played it safe by coping out of the discussion, as he was becoming more and more agitated, and I didn't want to lose a valuable customer. I haven't seen any Ewe angry like that before about the nasty things said about us daily by some Akans. I made the mistake of revealing early in the conversation that the Asantes were the "traditional allies", as Afrifa put it in his book, of we Anlos too (not all Ewes, as Afrifa wrote), and he was aware that some Ewes have been supporting the NPP. Didn't want him to group me among them.
