Samuel, you're one of the ones who admires Okoampa's language and you boast yourself of your immense ability in the use of the language so you must know what you're saying. It's true that Okoampa shows tremenous dexterity in the use of the Queen's language and has an enormous vocabulary that enables him to deploy a huge register. But still ... there is something in his style that just doesn't appeal to some of us. It is in such a way that I will never recommend his style to my daughter in secondary school or starting university. It is not because he doesn't write correctly but because I will want my daughter to find a writing style different (and hopefully better) from that!

Thank goodness, the best practictioners of the language are not necessarily those with the largest vocabulary. Perhaps Okoampa's style in his published creative work (poems and novels) is different from what he displays here on ghanaweb but I have wondered why he has not achieved international acclaim for those published works. For instance, none of his creative works is on the WAEC syllabus whereas we have Amma Darko whose talents I don't really rate high on the syllabus for SSS students. Plainly, why should Amma Darko be there but not Okoampa? I know there's politics in the choice and it is not always that the best get chosen, yet...

Well, there are so many things one just cannot explain. And doesn't that make life more interesting?

If you can not convey a message in a simple and short manner then you have not understood the English language. If your targeted audience get lost in the woods then you are the worst writer ever. What Ahootan needs is a private tutor in English made simple.

In 2011 the U.S. and her NATO allies did all what they could to bring to naught the demonstrations by the 99% of their population against economic hardships. There is equally lager number of people who commit suicide in U.S. and her allies and Japan is an example, sitting economic hardship. But there has not been and occasion for the western press to campaign for overthrow of a government because a citizen has committed suicide as was the case in Tunisia.
Again to the demonstrations both in some Arab countries, Europe and U.S. against poverty that the western press never said that it is because of mismanagement and dictatorship that led to the downturn of their economies. In other countries when citizens face hardship as a result of downturn in the economy the western press and its journalist mainly women jumped up to tell us that it is all about dictatorship and corruption.
We wrote that it is on record that European Union members and the United States of America never supported the right of people to self determination and in the U.S. itself demonstrations by Negroes against the racial segregation laws were dispersed with bullets. We mention the struggle of the people of Korea, Cuba, Viet Nam, Algeria, Spanish and Portuguese colonies in Africa and Southern Africa against colonialism and apartheid which the west supported the colonialist and apartheid forces against the forces of liberation.
U.S. technically is a one party state but it is also the country that shouts loudest about democracy. In all the capitalist countries it is only the U.S. constitution that bans both socialist and communist parties from both congress and senate.
There are some principles that form the basis of the United Nations and are its cardinal values. They are the value to self determination, freedom of conscience and universal adult suffrage.
Dr. Kwame Okuampa-Ahoofe it is a fact that government does not change hands in western Europe and U.S. by people demonstrating and taking up arms against their government. NATO members do not entertain the rule of the mob in their own countries but the question is why should thy support and advance the rule of the mob in other countries of which Ukraine is a case.
We witness NATO military involvement in several countries, with the ruse of protecting the interest of minorities and in some cases majorities, preventing people from not killing rats in their country.
From your understanding of the world it is only the U.S. and her allies who are beings, thus deserve the right to defend their perceived rights of others, when it is even about people passing food through their noses and to force people under the force of arms to sniff opium.
However no other person has the right to self determination and sovereignty if not animated by U.S. and her allies.
U.S. and her allies want us to believe that the rest of us members of the human community have head alright, but we should not make use of it and decide what is good and what is not good for us.
Dr. Kwame Okuampa-Ahoofe it is said by the sages that a wise person does not hack at a grievance with an ax, but that is what exactly the U.S. and her allies do. They go to the extend of giving axes to others to hack others who will in turn take up axes.
Your absurdity is that whiles the None-Allied Movement point is that axes should not be used to hack grievance you support those who said that whenever there is a grievance people should team up and take up arms against each other.
So whiles Rawlings a military man is saying that issues should not be hacked, you and intellectual is advocating for hacking them. I know that you do no hack knowledge into the brains of your students by opening their brains and putting knowledge into the minds.
