Unfortunately, the writer is committing the same mistake he is criticising. He is comparing facts in Malaysia and false assumptions in Ghana. The fact is that both the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority and Ghana Airports Company have well rehearsed emergency plans for such unfortunate incidences. Again, all Airlines operating into Ghana are required by law to file their emergency plans with the relevant authorities before they can operate in Ghana and these are reviewed annually.

It is not long ago that a local Airline simulated an accident at KIA and tested the readiness of all the relevant agencies i.e. Fire service, Police, Airport Clinic etc. GACL recently tested their readiness on terrorists attack at KIA. (This lasted about three hours)

The above should convince everybody that should the unfortunate happen in Ghana, there will be experts available to handle issues professionally

Given our culture of fatalism, if such a tragedy ever took place in Ghana we would all rush to the churches to pray for divine intervention and ask God for forgiveness. Of course the entire tragedy will be ascribed to God!
