Ghanaians will look down on what they have and glorify imports. Your currency is falling because you only want foreign foods. If Chinese eat snakes then you have to eat snakes and mush room .   Nkrumah, as I have always opined was responsible for his own overthrow. Singa, some of us saw CPP too, though we were young. In politics at that time, it was just foolish to declare yourself for life, do not have a Vice Prez because you do not even trust your own party members, and also as a goat, try to put your support on two fighting elephants. Did he expect the USA to favor him when he was openly supporting the Soviet Union in the Cold War. Did he expect The Francophone and Portuguese Blocks in Africa to support him in all he did?Singa, at a point in time in Ghana people had to even queue for basic things like it is happening in Venezuela now. Yes Nkrumah established industries but remember that the money was there. Try now to find out who sold out those industries to cronies. Don't always try to teach the young ones wrong history.

We should all be ashamed of Nkrumah introducing one-party state into Africa. Nkrumah was the only president in history who never had a Vice President. Even Hitler had Hess.
  
  What is hapenning in the Gambia today was exactly what happened in Ghana under the tyrant Kwame Nkrumah. Even his own son Sekou Nkrumah is ashamed of CPP and once described it as a sunken ship. CPP was like the NAZI party of germany under Hitler

  Thank you brother . I was once a Young Pioneer myself , but with age I have weaned myself off those communists nonsense they pumped into my head. As a nation grows , there is the need to take stock of the past in the light of present day dispensation and ask our slves whether our past put us on a solid foundation as a nation. The present state of our nation answers that question. Corruption r and dependency on gov't have been the yoke around our necks since Nkrumah's time , yet people who were taught to recite " Nkrumah is our messiah " twelve hours a day keep chanting to this day. It is like winding up a toy, it keeps going and going mechanically till there is no more energy left in it . One such person , incapable of any reasoning is this Sangaparee . He sees and writes only what he has been programmed to do even in his dotage. Nkrumah would have been worse than Kim Il Sung , Hitler or Mugabe.

  Remember,Ghana is a sovereign nation.Therefore,leaning towards the Soviet Union was neither a crime nor a violation of International Law.Does United States have any RIGHT to interfere in the internal affairs of Ghana,and subvert our nation through the CIA? Is it not a violation of the UN Charter? Do you know that it was the CIA and British Intelligence which caused artificial shortages of commodities in Ghana,which resulted in queueng? Do you know why shiploads of imported milk and sardine were found to be unwholesome and not good for human consumption?.That was the work of the CIA.You sound like those who were babies or those who were not even born in 1966.I don't agree with Sangaparee on many issues but you have also misfired.You need to do your research well,my brother.

  You forget that during the cold war,Nkrumah was also undermining the interest of the Soviet Union in Africa with his association with the KGB. About the so called shiploads of unwholesome milk and sardine ,you want us to believe that shortage of sadine and milk was the reason for overthrow of Nkrumah ? How many Ghanaians eat sardines or drink milk daily and you believe this nonsense ? Nkrumah was a despot and needed to go. Period.

It was sycophants like you who said yes to everything even when they knew a no answer would have helped the national cause.During Nkrumah's dictatorial regime, the cowards and gaping sycophants said yes instead of no to save their skin and/or to promote a blurred ideological agenda. Those who had the balls to challenge Nkrumah's policies risked imprisonment without trial, death or if you were lucky to escape, your fate was a self-imposed political exile.
  Ghana became a police state and the Young Pioneers were used by the administration to eavesdrop every conversation within hearing distance, their own parents, siblings, and extended family members not exempt from this cruel and crude communist inferior tactic. This is how Ghanaians, including Sangaparee, became gaping sycophants in the land of their birth. Thanks, Mr Sangaparee for speaking the truth for the first time.
  Just like today's and every other ghanaian political dispensation, the opposition is not always rabble-rousing as it's always made to appear. Sometimes they speak sensible things to the chagrin of the ruling administration who fear the truth.
