This is a Ghanaaian institutions estblished by a black man. You see our problem is that we have a damaged psyche the result of slavery and colonialism. We don't believe in ourselves anymore. Listening to our learned men in Ghana makes you regret your very existence and why we should have independence at all. It is no joke! This is because we are very far from finding solutions to "whether or not blacks are able to manage their own affairs".
The only person who could be credited with wisdom and sense of reality and direction is Kwame Nkrumah. I would not call him an intellectual genius but he did have abundance of need-drive common-sense base and acumen to think clearly on his feet and ahead.
On the other hand I have come to the understanding Nkrumah must have been completely naive in believing we could manage our own affairs. He should have stated "he" was capable of doing that, and not blackman.
Finally, this is no debate since the vast and overwhelming evidence on the ground, populated by blacks, tells a vividly profuse story. No, we don't have what it takes.

One of the biggest problems we face is today is the constant assertion by some fellow Ghanaians and Africans that black people can never achieve anything.In my book these people do grievous harm to the self belief of our people. These people with a defeatist attitude in my bookate worse than economic saboteurs because they actively hamper and demotivate our people and keep them cemented to the floor of poverty and ignorance. How can Africans enter the promised land of development and prosperity if they are constantly told that they are incapable of amounting to anything? How can Ghanaians feel incentivized to work, study in order achieve lofty goals when they continuously have drummed into their ears that they are inferior to for example white people? A long time ago it was white people who told black people they were underachievers. These days whites no longer need to preach their gospel of discouragement to Blacks as this is now done exceptionally well by fellow Africans. MY ADVICE TO FELLOW GHANAIANS DON'T LISTEN TO THESE LOSERS AND NAY SAYERS.I SAY LET IT IN ONE EAR AND OUT THROUGH THE OTHER.

I think you got the most part of your arguments fundamentally wrong. You almost completely left out the wider African population who typically have the wrong attitudes and the wrong approaches to solving problems. Leaders, however good they may be, cannot do everything or indeed anything by themselves. Let's take an example where our president has decided to make dumso dumso a thing of the past. He's obviously got the right intention and right thinking. Then he orders the building of Atoabo thermal plant, completion of Bui dam and importation of gas from Nigeria to feed the plants whilst our own local gas processing is being completed. He sets deadlines for completion of these projects which are constantly shifted either due to lack of funding or inefficiency on the part of our workers or both. He also orders the construction of distribution infrastructure including substations several of which exploded due to shoddy workmanship or razed down by arsonists (and don't say that has not been proven because it has. National security traced explosives and actually seized explosives that were intended to be used in mining and quarrying). This then leads to diversion of meagre resources into repairing infrastructure that should have lasted decades and wastes precious time of our construction industry. Yet some people happily rejoice in the "perceived" failings of our president and publicly denigrate him at the slightest opportunity instead of joining hands in building our nation. Let's face it. The president has the best of intentions for the country but he cannot single-handedly go and supervise every project, investigate and punish corruption and plan ahead for national development whilst being rediculed and frankly sabotaged by people who see their own interests as above collective national interests. You did not want to delve into history but you have to know your history to be able to shape your future. The very people who clamour for recognition and claim to be be the only saviours of our land are those who collaborated with the CIA to overthrow our visionary leader who was way ahead of his time. Those are the true nation wreckers who have destroyed our future and sold our birthright as a nation to the cheapest bidder. How absurd! Indeed the European Union is an exact replica of what Nkrumah planned for Africa but our "followers" we're not smart enough to see his vision and rally behind him. The Europeans were and copied it to achieve what is now a very successful European Union. I would therefore turn your argument on its head and blame our failures squarely on our wider population. We are all corrupt, disingenuous, unfaithful, lazy and unwilling to fall in line and do as instructed by our leaders. Instead we hide behind hardships and poverty and blame our own failings on everyone but ourselves. That is our biggest failure and the most brilliant of leaders cannot achieve much unless we are prepared to throw our foolish pride away and allow our leaders to lead and do what is in the best interests of us all. You cannot have corrupt leaders unless the people they lead are also corrupt. Similarly leaders alone cannot fight corruption unless the people are prepared to take stock of their own attitudes and practices and remain open and honest. Ghanaians and other Africans excel in all aspects of intellectual life but fail to do so in our own land. That suggests to me there is something wrong with all of us as a people and it would be intellectually flawed to single out our leaders for blame. Indeed some, if not all our leaders have achieved great things elsewhere before becoming leaders. Somehow our systems ensure they fail to achieve whatever great things they set out to achieve for their respective countries. Africans HAVE more than what it takes to be a world leader in many aspects of human progress. We fail to realise our own worth and would often listen to and respect an illiterate white man more than our own kind. That is where our problem lies. We can manage our own affairs if we start listening to each other, respecting each other, obeying each other and sharing our experiences with each other instead of always antagonising each other.

You seem not to understand my argument. Not being smart and having the wrong attitude are two completely different things that must not be confused with each other. Not being smart is synonymous with being stupid. Africans are clearly not stupid and our achievements round the world attest to that. What we have woefully failed to do is shake off our colonial legacies and start to do things as one people. Our colonisers deliberately pitched us against each other (so-called divide and rule) and that is why there are still tribal conflicts today and also why we would listen to foreigners other than our own kind. Some of us even take that attitude abroad and partly explains why the Chinese for example, are making more in roads in Europe and the USA, though one can argue they are more recent arrivals in these regions. That does not equate to intelligence or "smartness"

Of course we are all to blame especially civil servants from middle management level who need to be trained to think critically and analyse situations so the can come up with workable solutions.
We are too lazy to think intensely. We are nearly always scared to the point of paralysis and/or even dare try out possible solutions for fear of failure sometimes.
We lack initiative and would rather wait for manna to fall from heaven. We are more prone to receive and enjoy crumbs right now than defer immediate gratification while working to produce or generate long term solutions.
We are just pathetic and would never make any sacrifices that would benefit entire populations... we would only want short term ad hoc solutions.

First of all I'll say is false and my reason is there are a lot of smart black Africans around the global who are not getting chance to help in our development because everything in Africa now is political.Since we have to cry our own cry I'm going to base most of my opinion on Ghana and our recent economy.Ghana is struggling because of incompetent leaders, bribery, corruption, greediness, whom you know,ignorant and so forth.How many people used to own television, fridge,ceiling fan, air condition in the 70's few, because there were a lot of houses in even urban areas without electricity. Real Estate stated its boom in the 80's and that's when the demand for electricity started. What did the government officials do about it and it's been how long now? All we're getting now is dumsor dumsor and now the government officials are accusing the citizens for using old appliances. Now is the Dollar. Where ever you go around the world you have to exchange whatever currency you have to that countries currency. Is only Ghana that we don't respect our currency and who is to blame the politicians. This dollar issues started in 1990. I went Ghana for my Green Card and my lawyer told me I need a police report as part of the requirements so I exchange $100.00 one morning and went to Ridge Police Station for the report. Even at that time they charged me for $100.00. I paid them in Cedis and I was told that they don't accept Cedis it should be Dollars. I thought they were kidding. They refused our own currency that I have to go back to changed it into Dollars before they gave me the Police report.So if the government officials pretend as if the problems we're facing recently occurred overnight then is very sad. It's time to educate the citizens about the importance of voting and election is suppose to be part of the education system from sixth grade to tertiary and there should be a law to ban the politicians from buying votes because one wrong vote can move the country back and that's why we are where we are today.Until we put propaganda, politics ,tribal or ethnic issues aside and choose competent government officials, citizens instead of foreigners for our development then

In America, the backlash against those who express honest observations about disparity of IQ across racial lines is often severe, enduring, and sometimes even career-ending. News providers who publish research about a correlation b/w race and IQ face the wrath of advertisers and their readers. Sometimes honesty is more of a liability than it's worth.
One fact is undeniable: a whole range of natural traits vary across the human population, not just from individual to individual, but also, when comparing population-level averages. Height, skin color, physical strength, propensity for certain hereditary illnesses, testosterone levels, the list of highly varying natural traits between population groups goes on and on.
The notion that such natural variability is mysteriously absent when it comes to intellectual capacity is contrary to reason.
Furthermore, attempting to obfuscate the cause of this variability with far-fetched theories about poverty, colonial exploitation, slavery, tribalism, or other factors, seems to me, an attempt to avoid a more problematic, albeit logical conclusion. Race and IQ are correlated.
Here are facts. Africa has severely lagged in its development behind the rest of the world. Whatever may have endemically afflicted the continent doesn't explain why African-descent diaspora in all countries have academically and economically lagged behind the populations among which they currently live, even after many generations of opportunity. They have been over-represented in prisons, and under-represented in university math departments.
It may seem reasonable to extend the theory that exploitation of Africa has also extended itself into exploitation of people of African descent outside of Africa (case in point, slavery), thereby causing generationally enduring deficiencies in achievement.
However, the descendents of Japanese indentured servants in Hawaii and California are quite successful today. Extremely poor Jewish immigrants who faced discrimination wherever they arrived quickly rose above their oppression through their own innate talent. These are inconvenient, but undeniable truths that deniers of racial disparity often dismiss.
What are the benefits to society in fearing acknowledgement of racial differences when there are numerous individual exceptions to population-level tendencies? Why not, instead, embrace the capacity of individuals to define themselves and defy population averages?
We must continue to train ourselves to look past our experience-based expectations. We must allow for individuals to prove themselves on their own merit rather than the averages of the populations from which they originate.

INDIVIDUALLY Africans are as smart as any other race. The issues are not one of racial genes and inferiority! The issues are those of the circumstances we find ourselves in and our inability to find a way out. But again even in the West, the Ruling Mafia do TRAP the majority poor - in the USA, in Britain and right across Europe. People sleep in the snow and freeze to death in Washington DC - 100 metres from the White House.

If you get educated in the language of the west and then use it to construct weapons aimed at your own people without doing accurate research, you have just proven by your own words how little you know.
