These murderers and their children are now enjoying in a prosperous and well educated society - all a signature of Yew.

In fact, Rahman, Yew and Nkrumah were friends and shared the same vision and goals for their respective countries.

Nkrumah's tyranny was worsening by the day to the extent that his own CPP cronies and henchmen led by Tawiah Adamamfio and Coffie Crabbe plotted to finish him. The best thing that has happened to Ghana was the overthrow of the murderous tyrant, Kwame Nkrumah. His own son Sekou Nkrumah is ashamed of CPP and called it a sunken ship.

Now there is the Kotoka International Airport attesting to General Kotoka, who was the leader of the 1966 coup. Kotoka is now being honored for distracting Ghana from attaining her vision is now a hero. Now that Ghana knows the truth, the question is, do we need to Honor a lie that abuses the collective sense of a nation. Should Kotoka be honored with a monument?. Another question, who is “Sankara”?. What did he do for Ghana that he as well deserves a circle to be named after him?. Why not after our heroes?. Don´t we have them?. This questions will be left as a chewing stick for our historians and nefarious politicians to chew and tell the nation the taste of it one day.
So what must Ghana do now? Is it not justified to tell Ghanaians the Truth? nothing but the truth?. We cannot wage war against the world’s only superpower America but we shall not stop telling them the truth until they can bear it no more. We will let then understand that they can kill and oppress many nations as possible, but the “Truth will forever prevail” so long as some of them live.
We all know that this coup was a serious lapse in judgment. It is a treason. Unfortunately, this admission has to be made, no matter how uncomfortable it is. Those perpetrators should be brought to book.
We shall prove to those Ghanaians who still want to believe that February 24, 1966 was not a mistake, even after the evidence shows that the core reason was a lie that they have betrayed their motherland. The child has now found out that the tragedy of the period after independence was not the loss of power by Nkrumah and the CPP. The real tragedy was that an initial period of experiment in nation building was truncated prematurely, and thereby the calm for natural growth and development was denied the country.
Today Ghanaians should accept the shame of embracing a coup that was fraudulent. If Ghana looks foolish now, imagine how it will feel like when history remembers that she participated in her own destruction, and 37 years later, still did not know what happened to her!. The man Kotoka who left Ghana naked on the stage is now the hero. General Kotoka is now named after an Airport which his hands and feet never touched.
Fellow countrymen, one more thing is sure; we shall make sure that America renders an apology to Ghanaians one day. Kotoka International Airport and Sankara circle shall be renamed after a leader who deserves it in Ghana. God bless Ghana.

The sad thing about Nkrumah's dying days was that when he wrote to Busiah, pleading to be allowed to come home to die in the presence of his aged mother to whom he was the only child, and who he had not seen for a long time because of his exile in far away Guinea, Kufuor - who had, quiet recently, said in a public ceremony that Nkrumah was a 'GREAT MAN' - was the deputy foreign minister in Busiah's gov't whose duty that decision fell upon, flatly rejected Nkrumah's plea to come home to die. For such a man to say after Nkrumah's death that he (Nkrumah) was a "GREAT MAN", is, to all intents and purposes, dishonest in the highest order.

Think before you answer that one Serwah because in Ghana as of today most people have to queue in the hot sun just to gain access to most consulate buildings of western civilized nations even as you and other clowns forget about the history of slavery.
When Nkrumah imposed detention without trial in Ghana you and your tribal kind labeled him a dictator and yet the world's civilized, developed and industrial nations have detained people without trial once terrorists struck in 9/11 what do you think about that? Nkrumah once again proved not only was he ahead intellectually of Danquah, Busia and all the kings men but was even ahead of leaders of the civilized industrious nations. Today that practice you did not think was humane has become the world’s standard. It has always been better to hold terrorists in prison indefinitely than to worry about them as they are free to engage in their uncivilized acts.
The problem with you Serwah and other tribal and political party zealots is that you cannot think ahead neither can you have foresight; to you unless someone has done it in Europe or in the Americas it is not good for Ghana. Why is it that Busia failed as Ghana's Prime Minister when he had all the ideas he thought were better than those of Nkrumah? Busia's combined intellectual capacity and ideology with Danquah became an abject failure when Busia was the Prime Minister. He could not move Ghana forward and thus chose to create enemies within the African continent by creating straw men or boogie men in Nigerians. That is the kind of people NPP of today and UP of old is all about They cannot stand on their own two feet, cannot outthink their opposition and thus has to resort to name calling or demonization of the opposition as you continue to do today. Nkrumah is dead and so is Danquah, Busia and others. Yet Ghana is as backwards as ever thanks to your freedoms to live in filth, and disease infested communities while your leaders are awash in stealing and selling of Ghana piece by piece to their colonial masters.
If you do not see the harm the UP and NPP has caused mother Ghana then wait a few years down the road and you will find China in charge of everything Ghana and then maybe you will get to understand wisdom of Nkrumah kind and folly of the Busia/Danquah UP/NPP kind.

The word 'nation' can refer to 'a moderately large group of people organised under a solitary, independent government OR it can also mean 'a community of people sharing a coomon culture, language, descent or even history'. The context in which the word is used is very important.

I am one of those Ghanaians who suffered from Nkrumah's brutality. I still remember the morning when a group of gun tooting and bottle throwing workers brigade mob invaded our home. Fortunately my father was not around he would have been taken away probably not to be seen again like may others whose only sin was that they opposed Nkrumah and his CPP. scars of this attack are still visible not only on my father's house in the form of bullet holes but even on me as objective as my little education turned me into. As a young history student during my sixth form years I started seeing the positive side of Nkrumah's ideology. His free education policy, the need to go industrial and the African personality ideas. He had a vision, a vision of free and self-reliant Africa and that was laudable. It is however, a fact that Nkrumah's personal ambition to become the first head of a united Africa assumed a priority over everything. He no longer took advice and he surrounded himself with YESMEN. Any opposing idea was interpreted as reactionary.How come that all his comrades were either disgraced and removed from office, imprisoned or forced into exile? Arko Adjei who personally arranged the return of Nkrumah from Europe, Gbedemah his right hand man were all silenced. Those who sang his praises are the ones who took over and molested and tortured their own people all in the name of Nkrumah. He completely lost focus and started behaving like God. Those of us who were alive when he was overthrown will confirm that the Kotoka/Afrifa coup was the most popular in the history of Ghana. The people of Ghana had had enough of the dictator and his band of crooks masquerading as ministers,DCs etc. Nkrumah started on a progressive note but allowed his person ambition or over ambition to spoil the whole show.
And to the writer, you are not doing Ghana any good by indulging in this Ashanti bashing. Busia,William Ofori Attah,,Dankwa, Kwesi Lamptey,Anto,Dombo,Obetsebey Lamptey were not Ashantis and yet you potray Ashantis as the only ones who opposed Nkrumah. Look into history and you wont search for long to note that Ashantis are always against any form of oppression.

Thanks for your candid opinion.However,let me correct some erroneous impressions some people had about Nkrumah.You are not alone.Unfortunately,Nkrumah's burning desire to see Africa united has been misconstrued.It is not true and there was was no indication that Nkrumah' ambition was to become President of United Africa.In fact,Nkrumah suggested in one of his speeches that Leopoldvile(Kinshasa) or Bangui in the Central African Republic should be the capital of United Africa.Why not Accra if he was bent on becoming the African President ? It is also important to note it is impossible for any African leader to impose himself on the whole continent,with over fifty heads of state as President without a consensus.

The only coup that people openly jubilated and brought down statues was Nkrumah's overthrow. If the military had allowed civilian administration to run the country, no one would have remembered Nkrumah. Today we have been trapped in history because military administrations ruined our strong economy beginning from 1972. But don't forget that when we are able to vote a better government in power to restore the economy to sanity, Nkrumah's story would be told in a drinking bar.
