  Ali Mazrui's concept of Africaness is influenced by and large by his Islamic background. He believes in the Sharia and even to some extent in Militant Islam but again his association with the west had modified to some extent his overall philosophy to a centrist ideology. He is opposed to African socialism as understood by Nkrumah,Nyerere, Sekou Toure and Senghor but rather opted for a unique ideology of African Liberalism.
  
  This is opposed to the Pan African concept which is an ideology and movement that encourages the solidarity of Africans worldwide. And which is based on the belief that unity is vital to economic, social, and political progress and aims to "unify and uplift" people of African Descent.
  
  Unlike his African liberalism which seek in making African regimes more presentable to Western donors clothed in western concepts of what is democracy, Nkrumaism and Afrocentric ideology asserts that the fate of all African peoples and countries are intertwined. These concepts believe that African peoples, both on the continent and in the Diaspora, share not merely a common history, but that we can define our common destiny.
  
  Ali Mazrui's clout as a hero of western propaganda and their definition of who is an African scholar has elevated him to legendary status. Notwithstanding, his thoughts have been fiercely criticized by progressive African intellectuals who describe his ideology as “sitting on the fence” ideology as against the principled philosophical concept of Nkrumah where you know where he stood.

  I couldn't even finish reading this brilliant piece at the time no one had commented on it because after Nkrumah, we have always given excuses for total blackout. after our "Democracy" and "Freedom of speech" and laziness, our big slang has not even given us enough food to eat except Ours is shallow thinking and jokes. Scientist only by tittles. Business magnets only by theft, bankers with no investment acumen, engineers only at the ministries, journalist mostly by hearsay, teachers by salary, police by intimidation, medical doctors by influence of only money. If we could get this kind of positive awakening tapped into by our so called policy makers, maybe might lift ourselves out of this inferiority.
