  Who imprisoned and killed J.B. Danquah? Was he not dictator Kwame Nkrumah? Didn't he imprison his political opponents? What was he then? Please, I know how infactuated some descendants of Young Pioneers are with Kwame Nkrumah. Just tell what Nkrumah did. It is a good piece of history to guide posterity. Don't try to re-write history. That is a nature of black Africans. White people, no matter how they loved you, they will tell the truth about the person, unlike Africans.
  
  Kwame Nkrumah could have made Ghana a middle class society if it had not been his selfish interest. He wanted to become president of the United States of Africa. Even he was involved in the assassination of one the Nigerian politicians who opposed Nkrumah in his United States of Africa presidency dreams.
  
  The British left Ghana a lot of money for our economic development. Corruption in Ghana politics started at Nkrumah's era. All the primary school prefect Ministers Nkrumah choose to govern the country amassed a great deal of wealth at the expense of ordinary Ghanaians. Didn't he spend more than 10,000,000 pounds to cause trouble in Guinea? Meanwhile, the french had prepared for the independence of Guinea.
  
  One area I appreciate Kwame Nkrumah was his educational policies. Nkrumah made sure every local district area in Ghanna had secondary school. he himself, I believed did not amassed any wealth for himself, but he oversaw the looting by his Ministers at that time.
  
  The Young Pioneer Movement and the National Brigade was a waste. He was inciting children against their own parents. What sort of government was it? What about his communist religion he wanted to practice in Ghana. it was a waste. Can you tell me any one country in Africa that followed communist as well developed economically. The soviets were using Africans to expand their empire. Nkrumah did not see that.
  
  Nkrumah hated the west because of the racism he saw when he studied in the United States. I bet you, the Soviets, now Russia are worst with regard to racism. Perhaps, if Nkrumah had studied in Soviet Union, he would have hated the Soviets too.
  
  Nkrumah did good things in Ghana. However, we must tell what it is with regard to his dictatorial powers he wielded to destroy his opponents in Ghana. Kwame Nkrumah was not a brutal dictaor, but what was he?

Most people who wrote about George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and the rest did not write that they owned slaves, and those who wanted to preserve the sanctity of President Adams won't write about children that he fathered with a "slave" African woman while married to a his white woman (The black side of that family is still here and won't be recognize by the white side until recently because of money/estate)
  There're many things that did not make it to the white man's books which could only be sourced from an alternative source.
  We have this glorious thing about white people that we hate our heroes no matter how harder they tried.

  After their White House service, it is their close associates who write bad things that the public do not know. When Ghanatta says white people will write every bad stuff about their leaders you must understand him.
  
  We know the evils JJ Rawlings did to Ghanaians , particularly Akans. Rawlings and his gangsters piloted their political opponents and dropped them alive into ocean. Will you have any bold associate of Rawlings who can write these evil things? Nkrumah did evil things against his political opponents in Ghana. The insiders of Nkrumah associates, who could be bold enough to write those evil things?
  
  I don't blame those associates or those who would have loved to write. Ghana and Africa as whole do not have institutions to protect individual rights. Even JJ Rawlings, the idiot would like his associates to write good thing about him. That is the story.
  
  Nkrumah was not infallible as some people who were Young Pioneers would like this generation to know. Let us know the evils our leaders committed, and that will guide posterity to govern very well. We know a lot about Kwame Nkrumah, and you can not re-write history. Everything bad about Geroge Washington, Thomas Jefferson and all presidents who have occupied the White House were written by white writers not black writers. let us learn to write or tell what it is, and it will help us indeed as we are developing democratically.

When the Progress Party used an act to remove Gbedemah from parliament leaving only the PP MPs in parliament, they never called it one party state. It is a shame for people to twist facts to suit their political interest instead teaching our youth the truthful history. UP/NPP propagandas have never said anything good about any party except Progress Party and NPP to the extent of praising NLC. Thank you Clement. Long live Ghana, Long live ACDR, Long live NDC.

Who was Corporal Amatepe who pulled the gun against Nkrumah? He was not a UP man certainly. Who will believe the lie that Gbedemah was recruited by UP to overthrow Nkrumah's government? He was the Finance Minister in Nkrumah's government who knew about the dangerous path the country was put under. Nkrumah had declared himself the life President of Ghana and no opposition was allowed. He jailed all opposition members. Even his fellow heads of states from other African countries had serious problems with him. If it was not his way then it was not anybody' way. That was what Nkrumah personified.

  The most BRUTAL dictator in Ghana's history is JJ Rawlings, no question. JJ didn't put his perceived enemies in jail. It is on record that over 200 people disappeared in JJ's regime, but we always talk of the "few" judges and army officers that were murdered.
  
  HOWEVER, Nkrumah had already had more than 8 years of administrating and made himself LIFE PRESIDENT. The only option left was forcible overthrow. I support his overthrow because Ghana at no point needed or needs a king.
  
  
  But Nkrumah was a BENIGN dictator and doesn't come close to the Mobutus, Idi Amins, Bokassas and our own popular JJ.
  
  JJ would have killed 10,000 if that would have made him preserve his life. HE TOOK NO PRISONERS.
  
  Many years after we are all dead people will read and write the objective truth. Now everything is shrouded in NPP vs. NPP; Akan vs. Ewe and the like.

At the time of Nkrumah, Ghana lacked level headed people, even the so-called learned people of his time did not match Nkrumah's intelligence and vision for Ghana. In every home, 'kids' are not part of decision making but under some kind of 'dictatorship'. When they are grown and MATURE, they then join the democratic system.
  The so-called disctatorship of Nkrumah is what has put Ghana on the world Map. Those behind his overthrow, please shut up.

  I saw some of the Nkrumah years myself. Ghana was turned into a police state and the administration used the Young Pioneers to eavesdrop on their parents conversation. Is it not a shame that your eavesdropping sent so many parents to spend time at Nsawam Medium Security Prison? Rev WGM Brandful, headmaster of Mfantsipim school lost his job in 1963 when he refused to allow the Methodist secodary school campus to be turned into a Young Pioneer enclave. Is this not what dictators do?

Messrs WA Wiafe, KA Gbedema, Tawia Adamafio, Cofie Crabbe and Ako Adjei you mentioned in your articles were all CPP members who held important positions in the party. The Preventive Detention Act came into effect long before the 1958 coup attempt and by the time of the Mama Tula episode all legitimate means of seeking justice in Ghana was absent. I am sure you either you were not born then and only relying on what you have read or heard by word of mouth or are one of the beneficiaries
  of the autocratic system of government that Nkrumah used to suppress Ghanaians. I must say that Nkrumah's overthrow was the best thing to happen Ghana but, regrettably, we have not taken advantage of it.

The Supreme Court Justices, Arku Korsa (them the Chief Justice), Akufo Addo and Van Lare, were instantly dismissed by Nkrumah and the three accused were tried under another court set by Nkrumah to find them guilty. You failed deliberately to mention this in your article, and there are others, just to mislead Ghanaians.

  Everything around you that keeps Ghana moving forward has Nkrumah's stamp on it..Akosombo Dam, Refinery, Tema motor way, nuclear facility, Former Black star line, former Ghana Airways, manufacturing factories like oil mills, rice mills, former Gihoc etc...even the cedi you spend and you have the nerves to voice your hallow opinion; the over thrown was the best thing that ever happened. To it was the worst that ever happened to the development of Ghana. They were countries that started like Ghana: Malaysia, South Korean and many more that have developed way ahead of Ghana under good leaders with good vision. Ghana today is struggling to provide water and electricity to its citizens and you have the guts to say it was the best thing that ever happened.

  Sir, the question you should ask yourself is where did the Nkrumah's Govt get the funds to found/build all these factories, motorway, airline, shipping line, etc. Certainly, it was the reserve Ghana was left with by the colonialists but in no time these establishments became white elephants as we did not know who to manage them. The countries that started with Ghana, i.e., Malaysia, South Korea and many more, as you put it, took their time to learn the intricacies of running a country and with leaders who looked to the future of their people without giving away their money to outsiders. The beginning was way off the mark and this has been the albatross around our necks till today. We need to re-examine ourselves and identify what went wrong at the very beginning of independence and stop idolising individuals before we can progress.
