Yet,both poor and rich folks - old and young - have been brainwashed by these chiefs and the so-called traditionalists,to kiss their rear-ends and equate chieftaincy with culture.Nonsense!! So many enlightened peoples all over the world - including some in Africa(Ethiopia and Egypt)have done away with this parasitic class,and they still retain their national cultures. Pandit Nehru abolished the Maharaja clique in India and set the country on a progressive course towards political,economic and social transformation of the country.India did not lose its culture.In fact,it was modernized with every citizen, including the "Untouchables" being equal in India.The World Bank puts India as having the fourth largest economy in the world;an agricultural powerhouse that is a net exporter of food to other countries;a science and technology and industrial giant that sends its own spacecraft into space - and will be exploring Mars next year. And India,with a population of ONE BILLION ACHIEVED ITS INDEPENDENCE just ten years (August 15,1947)before Ghana's.

The Okyenhene is more corrupt than many of his peers.He speaks with a forked tongue while he and his sub-chiefs rent lands to the galamsey operators.The money they pocket is more important to them than the water their people drink.It is not only happening in the Eastern Region.The same exchange of money and lands is happening in the Western Region, Ashanti,Brong Ahafo and the Central Region;and the politicians - from the President to the District Officers are all afraid to take STRONG actions to stop the destruction of the environment and the potential deaths of thousands of citizens of this country(especially children) - all because Mahama and the NPP leaders want to be elected - with the support of the chiefs.

Ghanaians have a big problem and it need nature incline's to solve these problems, how can a foreigner come to your country and started digging on your land? Even if the government has given them the mandate, the chiefs are behind the whole thing, because in ghana the land belongs to the chiefs but not the government. How can the government given a mandate to foreigners to operate galamsey without the knowledge of the King or the Chief? Our kings and Chiefs have failed us since the Pope was a little boy. Corrupt Kings and Chiefs in Ghnana, selling their own people back to slavery. Kings who doesn't care about their people let alone their town or city. Kings who are selling land to their own people expensively but buying mansion's in other countries. King's who are so corrupt to the bone, these are the kind of people who are leading us, how can we develop?
