U think if the NPP had evidence of corruption of their greatest enemy, they wouldnt have hanged him while they were in power for 8yrs? If they took away his privileges just for criticizing their gment, what else couldnt they do have done if they had an aorta of evidence of corruption against him?

Why didnt they add his alleged corrupt activities when they tried him at the National Reconciliation Commission which had the powers of a High Court? Dude, Jerry Rawlings has proven to be incorruptible when he ruled for 20yrs. Those who ruled for JUST 8yrs have corruption printed on their foreheads. Shame unto u.

Just like the NPP and their cohorts accused Afari Gyan, Otumfuor, Atuguba, Mahama and co. of electoral corruption, so will they accuse everybody with no single evidence. SHAMELESS GROUP OF PEOPLE INDEED

Mr Attah-Krufi Hayford, your definitions and how you apply them are very interesting, particularly with regards to military coup d'etat. Does that mean all the military coups in Ghana (1966, 1972, 1979 and 1981) were all acts of corruption or just the one's involving Rawlings?

Whilst I shared most of your analysis on the sale of state enterprises and assets to the rich and powerful in society as corruption, I wonder why you restricted the analysis to only the Rawlings era because it has happened since the 1966 overthrow of Nkrumah and still happening.

I also agree with you that Rawlings can never be as white as he claims to be because he cannot say he is incorruptible when he supervised the sale of state assets (land, properties and enterprises) to his wife, friends and cronies (even if he personally did not buy some.

In the same way, I disagree with those who claim that Nana Akufo-Addo is incorruptible. Yes, he might not have been personally involved in any corruption as it's been claimed but for him to say that, the sale of state lands cheaply to his colleague ministers in the last NPP administration was wrong but did nothing to stop it, in my view does not make him incorruptible. He is more or less corrupted by his silence and by association. The one who is truly incorruptible is the one who does not engage in corruption directly or indirectly as well as fights it when he becomes aware of corruption.

To extend my statement above, if it is true that Gabby and Kweku Baako found evidence of corruption by Rawlings, then, why did the last NPP administration fail to prosecute him? Was the NPP government scared of prosecuting him or what? If you are correct but the NPP government failed to prosecute him for whatever reason/s then by this failure they were also corrupt by their failure and let the nation down. Was it guilty conscience that made them unwilling or incapable of prosecuting Rawlings for the corruption that was unearthed by Gabby and Kweku Baako?

In my view and applying your own definitions and analysis, most, if not all Ghanaian politicians and people in positions of trust are corrupt. This is because politicians go into politics for what they can gain and steal from the state rather than to serve the people. From what I now know about Nkrumah, he is probably the only Ghanaian politician who truly went into politics to serve the people. Perhaps, Busia and Attah Mills as well but they did not last long so I am not too sure. All the current ones, especially, Mahama and Nana Akuafo-Addo and the rest all want to be president, ministers, MPs, party officials, MCEs/DECs, etc because of what they can gain personally and that is corruption by your definition. That also include yourself by being the Chairman of NPP (UK & Ireland). I am sure you benefit personally from your position and will benefit immensely if Nana Akufo-Addo ever wins the presidency. What do you say to my comments?

That is the nature of NDC, a party founded on corruption, terrorism, vandalism, abuse of fundamental human rights. In the end, JJ managed to use the tax payers' money to finance his children's education abroad. Kweku Baako will be exonerated one day, it's just a matter of time. Those allegations are not fairy tales; they are true, real and coloured. They happened in Ghana. Some of us who were born in the early 70's witnessed a little of JJ's tyrannical rule. What happened to Nsawem cannery? What facts do people want again? Fool, it's your clueless president, Mahama and his create-share-loot brigade who are a shameless group of people. The economy is sick, nothing seems to be working well. They killed Mills, robbed the elections, conspired with Atuguba to overturn the election petition verdict. The world saw it all and God too. He will strike at His own appointed time. Now they want to eliminate Apraku and say that Akufo Addo has a hand in the crime, because of the mounting tensions between the two, in the wake of a series of derogatory remarks Apraku has made against Nana. Reading through this article with careful eye and a well focused mind, you just seemed to be heard. For instance, the government that Rawlings overthrew first was itself not constitutional. And what led to the firing of those officers? Was Rawlings not jailed to be fired? Isn't it kill or be killed? Before Rawlings came to the scene, 'kalabule' and all sorts of corruption, per your definition, were abound. Yes, there were some atrocities that were carried out, and many people were shouting 'let the blood flow'. People overdid things before it even came to the notice of the authorities. I was thinking you will be able to mention all the people Rawlings sold the state assets to. And was Asare Otchere-Darko's and Kweku Baako's vow to naked the Rawlingses ended fruitfully? It was fruitless. Where is their report? Let's all try to rewrite the history of Ghana using the right lens. The truth should not be banded with lies.

What you've succeeded in doing in your so-called article of "litany of Rawlings' corruption" is that for the most part you've made wild and unsubstantiated allegations against the former President; you've not given any concrete evidence to support your charges of corruption against him. Consider, for example, your allegation that "[he] hatched a plan to sell off Ghana's hotels to himself under the pretext that they were not making good profit for the nation." Or, consider the ff. statement of yours: "GHACEM was sold to SCANCEM of Norway for $3 million after he and members of his administration took a bribe of $4million. This was revealed in 2007 in a Norwegian court. A Norwegian minister was being interviewed by two Ghanaian editors, Asare Otchere-Darko and Kweku Baako, during their visit to Norway to investigate matters involving evidence before a Norwegian court that top people under the National Democratic Congress government received bribes of more than $4 million from Scancem with the purpose of consolidating the then Norwegian-owned firm’s hold in the local cement industry."

If you're really serious about proving that J.J. was truly corrupt, how can you base your indictment of him on hearsays and innuendos when some are coming from his arch-enemies like Asare Otchere-Darko and Kweku Baako? Fact is, your so-called charges of corruption against J.J. are motivated purely by your hatred of him and so they can't stand in any competent and unbiased lawcourt.

If you want people to take you and your articles seriously, do your research well and provide concrete evidence that J.J. was truly corrupt. Remember, he was succeeded by Mr. Kufuor and his NPP administration. If he was indeed corrupt as you've alleged, why did Kufuor and his administration not bring charges against and imprison him as he did some of J.J.'s ministers like Messrs. Peprah, Yankey, Abodakpui and Selormey?
