  This is a progressive view. The reality is that the people are reluctant to pay taxes, the religious organisations do not pay taxes on their collections and tithes. The religious organisations generate more than enough financial capital to establish industries. Moreover, their teachings will encourage their employees not to demand noncompetitive wages and increase productivity. This is a scheme that will significantly change the social-profile of the participating groups.

  What fraction of the free money that could circulate on the Ghanaian market comes from churches? The bulk of Ghana's money, from FDI through foreign loans and aid to locally generated economic activities are siphoned off from Ghana to be deposited in foreign banking and financial institutions by the very Ghana elite class. The preachers, political and educated elite class do have foreign bank accounts outside Ghana. Do you, Dr. Alexander think the president John Mahama went on vacation by taking money with him or because he already had money in some UAE bank? Do you think Nana Akufo-Addo spent some six (6) month vacation in the UK by taking enough money with him when he left Ghana or had money stashed in the UK? Do you not think all of Ghana political and educated thieves have money stashed in foreign accounts? How about the Asantehene who owns homes in the UK and in South Africa? Does he send money from Ghana each year to pay property taxes on those properties or has bank accounts in those nations? The problem is that despite all of the crap Ghana's so-called economists talk about they all fail the basic practical application of those economic principles they so proudly throw out when it’s time for them to show off in Ghana's political discourse.

  A tree is recognized by its fruits said somewhere in the Bible. The church leaders can change the congregation by preaching good deeds. About 70% of Ghanaians are Christians, which supposedly should translate into good Christians values. What we see is people duping and cheating others especially on money. It is common for a pastor/leader to pray for a thief of not being caught in the latter's dealings. Would it not be better for a Pastor/leader to ask the thief to send back all the stolen items and confess to the owner? We also use too much of our productive time in church. People can spend the whole day in church praying for a miracle without making the effort, when we know very well that God helps those who help themselves. If the church leaders can incorporate issues like these in their sermons, the world will be a better place. Long live the churches and let God reigns. Amen

  How on earth can your new churches help the economy when the young men and womeny spend three to four days in the week praying and fasting in the church without working.May God help GHANA.
