Whereas Danquah smells of Kako, Busia stinks of Ewura-Fua.They are simply traitors who initiated ethnocentrism in Ghana and to a large extent, Africa.
The true Doyen Of Democracy in Africa Is Nkrumah, and he will never die.

Africa is the mother continent and was once referred to as the cradle of civilization. The world expected leadership from Africa but we went to sleep. As the rest of the world moved on without Africa we kept scoring own goals. If we can't lead at least we can be part of a world movement. All we need to do is keep pace with the developed world and we will be proud again as Africans. Afro-centrism or the African Personality will come when we are able to stand toe to toe with the greatest nations of the world in terms of development and when we become the society guided by the rule of law and order. The world will not have to ever again frown upon us, pity us and feed us from the bottom of their dinner tables like they would their dogs and we will not have to suffer the indignity of bowing our heads down in shame because we belong to the land of Mobutu Sese Seko who seized power to transform his poverty ridden life into a"walking bank" while his own people wallowed in abject poverty or from the CAR where its Emperor/dictator Bokassa spent millions not out of pocket but from the general fund for his coronation, impoverizing an entire nation in the process.
The first revolution which has already taken place was breaking the yoke of the colonialists rule. The second is making it virtually impossible for a home made dictator's rule. The third revolution must be industrial and technological based which will propel Africa to international recognition and respect. The key to awake the sleeping giant is maximizing our educational efforts at all levels for "my people perish because of the lack of knowledge". We have the potential and all we need to do is mine and export it as finished products ready to take on the world. We will be in business and we will gladly and proudly be pointing to our father's house with our right index finger. The South Koreans rose from the ashes of war and poverty, americanized, educated their minds and industrialized but today they're proud Koreans.

Hello Mensah, it appears the South Korean model might be worth emulating. Could you kindly elaborate on how they "rose from the ashes" to become one of today's technological powerhouses? Thanks.

Dear Brothers,
Good day. Long time, Tekonline.org. This is for Mensah Abrampa.
I just read your thoughtful comment and those of Mensah's. Interestingly, I had the same thoughts you had in mind, a question which I will want Mensah Abrampa to answer: How do we replicate the South Korean model?
However, I will like to clarify one or two things. My point is that Africans need to stregthen the humanities/liberal arts/social science by making issues of Africa the focus of research.
For instance, Asian societies such as India, China, Japan, South Korea, to name but four, have heavily invested in the humanities/liberal arts/social sciences to address issues uniquely relevant to their societies. Why? Because they know that the classics, for instance, and the writings of Aristotle, Plato, Socrates, Solon, Homer, and the like, do not have immediate application to their problems.
This is not to say their institutions do not teach the classics. It is to say zeroing in on their societies give them confidence by way of identifying their particular problems and finding practical solutions to them.
The West does the same. Ameican students--black, white, green, blue--go through America's educational system knowing more about the glories of Western civilization (and white historical figures) than those from their backgrounds.
Ghanaians who had scholarships to study in Russia, China, and Japan, for instance, generally had to learn the histories of their hosts whether they came to study medicine, physics, or mathematics. That is why citizens of these countries exude confidence.
Some of us went to school studying glaciation, Western geography, meteorology, Western historical figures, etc., with no application to Ghanaian or African realities. Yes, we finished school and could memorize Western geographical patterns and weather systems without concentrating on our own environment.
In fact, my father still complains about the uselessness of such an educational system today. Busia and others did the same. That said, I am not saying we cannot import modern scientific and technological ideas.
The other point is that Nkrumah had wanted to do away with the racist content of colonial education and replace them with materials that speak directly to their immediate environment. Once again this is what every non-African society does. In doing so, Ghanaian and African students get the opportunity to know themselves and their societies better.
That is, removing racist content from colonial education gives Africans ample time to study their society intimately. That is when you begin to import foreign scientific and technological ideas. People sometimes make remarks about the West and Asian societies without closely studying Asian societies and their histories.
Mao Tse-tung and others who laid the foundations for modern China made sure that progressive Chinese traditional ideas are taught to children of all ages before importing others' ideas. China's President Xi Jinping recently made a comment to that effect (please google "Xi Says Multiparty System Didn't Work for China").
Also learning about Asian history tells one how advanced some Asian societies China, South Korea, Mesopotamia, Babylon, India, Persia, etc) were more advanced than Western societies.
Some don't even know that the source of the Western gun, for instance, is China. Some also don't that many important sources of Western mathematics, physics, philosophy, etc., is Asian and African (See Martin Berna's three-volume series "Black Athena: The Afroasiatic Roots of Classical Civilization"; "The Pale Fox"; "Black Genesis: The Prehistoric Origins of Ancient Egypt").
Moreover, Chinese and Africans were using paper before Europeans. Then again, Arab and Chinese societies practiced rudiments of capitalism before Adam Smith and others laid down capitalist theories. South Korea, China, etc., had rigid public examinations conducted to select citizens for public service hundreds of years before the first of its kind appeared in Europe. We even know today that Indian mathematicians invented infinitessimal calculus (and so-called Arabic numerals) and made its way to Europe. Therefore, Leibniz and Newton did not invent them.
What am I saying? I am simply saying that Asians and Africans were not "uncivilized" when Europe appeared on the scene. Of course they are ahead today and we need to work hard to catch up.
That does not mean we should uncritically copy the American or South Korean model. There is so much about American science we may not need. Eugenics (scientific racism) may be one. Let me give Mensah another example: American pharmaceutical companies that fail to get FDA's approval for a particular drug (after failing clinical trials) go to Africa and Asian and returned to America with concocted data. The FDA has no choice but to give its approval. These drugs are then sold in America and it draws the FDA's attention only when complications begin to develop in patients. These pharmaceutical companies will then be made to pay a token amount of money out of the billions they make on the fake drugs. Again, some American pharmaceutical companies go behind the FDA to bribe them to recommend drugs to patients that have failed clinical trials.
Do we have to copy these eamples? Besides, there are many FDA scientists who work for these pharmaceutical companies--conflict of interest. And powerful pharmaceutical companies concoct data all the time. Therefore, you assess the stregth of your society before importing another's ideas.
The question to Mensah again is: How do we emulate the South Korean model? Please elaborate!
Thanks.

This is a well researched work on one of the greatest men Africa ever produced. The vacuum created by Nkrumah and his like is very difficult to fill. What we have in Africa now are self-serving leaders who do not care about the agonising situation of their people. But interested in looting the wealth of the nation. This kind of write-up should be sustained perhaps, it could arouse the consciousness of our youths to be selfless and morally upright in the affairs of our nations. God bless Africa.
