You and your like within the NPP are trying to make Nkrumah a symbol of hate. Meaning every NPP member should automatically cover his/her ears at the mention of his name. You are using every possible means to eradicate Nkrumah’s name from our history books. If he’s to remain there, then he should be associated with everything evil in politics!
  Talking of evil, it places itself squarely on your undemocratic shoulders. The innocent little girl’s blood is still on your evil hands. If you guys had any sense of remorsefulness, you would at least, as any civilized human would do, lay a wreath on her dilapidated grave. Am told her remains could not be laid in state, as she was torn to pieces by your evil acts! Ghanaians are trying to put all your evil deeds behind them and get a formidable replacement for the NDC. Let me share one little secret with you. Not one single floating voter like me will ever think of throwing weight behind you guys if your tradition as it seems to be, is to vilify Nkrumah at the least opportunity. The NPP’s entry into the scene was as a result of Ghanaians getting fed up with Jerry Rawlings and his band of crazy so called commandoes who never displayed their expertise on a battlefield, but instead flexing their underutilized muscles on the poor Ghanaian.
  Nkrumah is no more, yes but please let his soul rest. NPP will move mountains to make sure the CPP does not replace the NDC. Because if it does and Ghanaians see some corruption free attributes in them, then c’est finis. After all, we keep changing not because we like your politically tagged faces, but we need a less corrupt administration. You mentioned the CPP should join forces with the NPP to form a united front. If this happens, Ghanaians will see your desperation and just have some fun laughing their hearts out! I salute Ghanaians for one thing. No one will close his/her shop, park his taxi or truck and fight for any politician. I noticed this when Nana Addo threw his “all die be die” tantrums, as well as the aftermath of the supreme court case. I was watching you guys closely. You were thinking that you could get some “stupid” Ghanaians to hit the streets and target NDC businesses just to kick start your violent tradition of making the country unsafe. HOW EVIL!!

  If the Prof really wants the CPP votes to swell up the chances of NPP to win the 2016 Elections, he should not start raking up the old bones about the inter-Party violence of the First Republic. That approach to canvassing for the NPP really hurts its chances.
  
  Citing the Twumasi Ankrah and Baffoe murderous incidence as the basis to brand the CPP as a "terror-sponsoring" Party, could not only rub badly on the CPP members but also resurrect the barrage of attacks on the NPP as a UP-incarnate, with worse terror record than the CPP.
  
  Don't let the Prof come back with his ludicrous, history-modification, facile claim that the Kulungugu bombing was solely the work of disgruntled CPP leaders, and the UP had nothing to do with it. Additionally, the CPP could point to tens of similar murderous incidents as the one the Prof cited as caused by the UP.
  
  One thing must be clear. The CPP of today and NPP both have no direct hands in any of the violence of the past. But if one of these Parties would like to claim the best attributes of its antecedent without owning its own terrorist past, and turn around to blame the other Party for its lesser terrorist reprisals, we could see an all round chaotic verbal conflagration to expose each side as the worse criminal Party.
  
  That does not bode well for the coming Elections which the Public would rather have run in a much reflective, constructive atmosphere; people want the Parties to focus on relevant issues of today and not on the ill-advised horrors that opposing Old Parties dragged each other through in the past.
  
  The Professor must understand that he cannot win even the sheer argument that the UP was any less terrorizing than the CPP. Records show the UP was far more violent in its attempts to wrestle Power from the CPP. No record shows CPP initiated the wave of violence that came to characterize that shameful era of our mutual savagery in our National Politics. It is the UP that often gets blamed for the start of that carnage. So, why would the Professor even go there?
  
  The many assassination attempts on Nkrumah's life that caused many losses of innocent lives cannot be justified by the short 2-year period of Nkrumah's Dictatorship which the CPP claims was the direct result of the UP's violent neglect of peaceful democratic means to win Power. The CPP has clearly indicated that Nkrumah was driven to become dictatorial by the unwarranted spate of vicious, brutal horror the UP had unleashed on its Administration.
  
  Given the records from even the British with whom the UP leadership wanted to align with to deny Nkrumah his demand for our Freedom, it was the UP/NLM that resorted to violence at the very onset.
  
  The Prof cannot court more votes for the NPP by employing this tactic of portraying all other Parties as undemocratic and somehow linked to past violence. If anything at all, it is the incidence of violence in this era that matters. You can talk about recent violence that may have immediate impact on People today, and prove the perpetrators do not care for our peaceful development. But dwelling on decades-old violence that none of the Parties contesting the Elections now really took part in makes no sense.

  Ghanaweb is read predominantly by Ghanaians based abroad a large number of whom, like you, GKB, is in the USA. These Ghanaians do not have a vote in Ghana and cannot even vote abroad. They are not even going home to vote. If they cannot vote in Ghana, then nothing Okoampa writes on ghanaweb, can have any effect on the votes the "real Ghanaians" in Ghana cast.
  
  Those Ghanaians living abroad who are so passionate enough to travel to Ghana purposefully to vote or make their normal holidays coincide wish the time of voting are already dead set in their views and nothing Okoampa writes here can influence them to change those views.
  
  The middle class Ghanaians living in Ghana (those I refer to as "real Ghanaians" because they are living in the country and owe no allegiance to any other country by the possession of a foreign passport) are too wise to be influenced one way or the other by Okoampa's writings. They are more discerning than you think and they know more about the conditions in Ghana than Okoampa does! They will not be told what to do by someone who left the country 30 years ago and whose only source of info on the country is ghanaweb, joyonline, occasional calls home, etc. but never visiting to see for himself.
  
  So, no matter which way you look at it, what Okoampa is writing here will not have much effect on the floating voters in Ghana. Nobody in Ghana is going to change his preference for any party as a result of something he has read on ghanaweb written by Okoampa. Okoampa doesn't have that much influence, if any at all.
  
  GKB, you are right when you argue that the present crop of political actors on our scene cannot be blamed for developments that happened decades ago when they were either kids or were not even born. Neither you nor Okoampa remember any of these events by digging into your memory and know of them either by being told by elders or reading about them. The past is the past. We can only discuss them academically and not give too much credence to their effects on today's politics.
  
  When you say the violence against Nkrumah was committed by the UP, you may not be very accurate. It was only in your penultimate paragraph that you specifically wrote UP/NLM. The violence was mainly perpetrated by NLM and its elements within the UP. The UP consisted of other banned parties too and these were not known, in their lifes as independent parties, for their violence. It was the NLM that was responsible for the violence. But, yes, Nkrumah's CPP knew how to meet violence with violence. Why did our parents warn us against going to those rallies?
