Katakyie, whilst you may be right in some of the issues you raised in your article, some may be more complex than they appear. For example, on the question of whether Ex-President Kufuor was a better unifier than Akufo-Addo is not that simple. Above all, one must take into consideration the prevailing circumstances in each period. For example, at the time of candidate Kufuor, Ghanaians were fed up with two decades of Rawlings. It was also the belief of most Ghanaians that Rawlings would become de facto president if Mills was elected because of his influence on the candidate and party and how he forced Mills on NDC. Again, the NDC itself was divided by what was known as the Swedru declaration that led to break way parties from NDC. In these prevailing circumstances it was far easier for the smaller parties to join hands with NPP led by candidate Kufuor to unseat the NDC. That was not the case in both 2008 and 2012. In other words, conditions for bringing different political parties together for a common purpose was not present in 2008 and 20012.
You are a member of NPP and therefore may be privy to internal NPP divisions. So you may be right in concluding that there are people around Akufo-Addo who are vindictive which does not augur well for party unity. I have no contrary information or evidence to challenge you on this.
Regarding other issues such as indiscipline or lack of control over leading figures within NPP or those around Akufo-Addo, particularly regarding their language. As an outsider, that appears to be one of the greatest threat to NPP electoral fortunes.It is not only the leading members of NPP but it's appears that may be common even within the party grassroots. I am referring to their language. I am not sure whether this is due to arrogance or what but the constant use of abusive language is disturbing. Just analyse what Mr Obiri Yeaboah, Interior Minister under the Kufuor administration who recently claimed that anyone who wanted the NDC government maintained in office in 2016 should have their brains scanned in a mental health institution was very serious and worrying. He should have known that he was insulting a lot of Ghanaian voters because in every democracy there are voters, families, generations who for various reasons vote for only one particular candidateor political party. For example, in the UK and US some voters always vote Labour or Conservative (Democrat and Republican party respectively). Either for ideological reasons or not some voters will not change their vote irrespective of the socio-economic conditions or candidates. That is also the same in Ghana. So for him to come out with such a statement as a politician was very sad. It is even dangerous because there is this perception in Ghana that majority of voters from the Northern and Volta regions vote NDC. His statement could be regarded as an insult to such voters.
Having made such irresponsible and abusive claim, how can NPP appeal to such voters to vote for them in 2016? Sadly, no one in NPP has objected to what Obiri Yeboah said.
I say this indiscipline may be widespread because of a family incident, though that is not scientific. A niece of mine in Ghana who is a strong NPP supporter and card bearing member became aware during the election petition that other family members voted NDC. Thereafter, she referred to them as being poor and that is why they voted for NDC. Meanwhile, all of them receive remittance from members of the family abroad. I had to advise her from using party politics to divide the family because as a family, members have always had independent mind to make their own decisions. I gave her an example of myself and two senior brothers (one is her father). I was a Kotoko supporter whilst they were Hearts supporters but that never divided us as siblings from the same parents.
In conclusion, the indiscipline is not only Akufo-Addo problem but NPP wide problem. You can say NDC leading members also use abusive language. Fine.

When you look at the mockery of the EC in three Kumasi constituencies in coming out with different figures each time they realised that Nana was not crossing the line, you would have to agree that that "president at all cost" was repugnant as it was an insult to Ghanaian voters. How on Earth could three Kumasi constituencies decide the fate of Ghanaians. When even votes from "oversea" areas in Upper East and Volta regions had announced their results these Kumasi constituencies were taking three days to send their results to Accra. Incredible.Thank God, the diabolical activities of Kwabena Agyepong and other NPP officials at the EC strong room in Accra were checked and halted. They attempted it again in 2012, but Afari Gyan was too smart, so to the Supreme court they went. You talk about Nana Akufo-Addo’s weaknesses. How about your Alan? A very disloyal party member if ever there was one. Why did he resign after he lost the election in 2007? Has he really ever apologised to his supporters, in particular and party members in general, for that selfish act, like the young boy at the play ground who catches his ball and asks to be allowed to score a goal or he will take his ball home?
Have you listened to his answer to “Why he is called Alan Cash in his county?” How about the fate of the Cassava Project under the “President’s Initiative?” There are rumours about him selling some Ghana Government property in Washington DC and only accounting to the sitting President. Have you heard about that? Those will be plum campaign topics if he should ever be elected flagbearer by the NPP.

Kufuor may be your idea of a hero, but Afari-Djan’s voodoo mathematics apart , the one person who singlehandedly lost the last two elections for the NPP was Kufuor. From the selfish award of gold medals to himself and opposition Candidate Ata Mills and others, to his supervision/non-supervision of Ghana@50, through the reappointment of Dr Anane to his view of corruption in government “as a matter of perception”, Akufo-Addo’s campaigns were hamstrung from start to finish.
Remember the NPP’s internal elections of 1992 and 1996? All the losers, particularly Nana, never rested till election day and after. What did Alan do after the nominations of 2008 and 2010? I am not Akyem but your reference to “Akyem Mafia” is even more baseless and disgusting than your earlier assertions. So when Kufuor surrounded his presidency with relations and clansmen, he was promoting Asante “Mafiaism.” Sometimes some of you NPP “Stalwarts ” really make me sick!

I followed the fever pitch negative onslaught from the NDC and NPP's inability to ride them out had a gut feeling they were going to bring back these Rawlings patsies.Every mud thrown at them stuck! And as night follows day, they lost. He Kuffuor cannot be absolved of this, in 2000 after the claim that Ghanaians were so fed up with Rawlings and wanted change he didn't win by a landslide but rather cooperation by the smaller parties. So enough of the hype about Kuffuor's achievements, a good leader's job is also to ensure his actions hands over power to like-minded to secure a legacy. What good is Kuffour's legacy now the NDC has been and destroyed most of his and NPP achievements.
