One day a cat died of natural causes and went to heaven. There he met the Lord Himself. The Lord said to the cat, "You have lived a good life and if there is any way I can make your stay in heaven more comfortable please let me know." The cat thought for a moment and said, "Lord, all my life I have lived with a poor family and had to sleep on a hard wooden floor." The Lord stopped the cat and said, "Say no more" and a wonderful, fluffy pillow appeared. A few days later six mice were killed in a tragic farming accident and went to heaven. Again there was the Lord to greet them with the same offer. The mice answered, "Lord, all of our lives we have been chased. We have had to run from cats, dogs, and even women with brooms. We are tired of running. Do you think we could have roller skates so we don't have to run anymore?" Instantly the Lord fitted each mouse with a beautiful pair of roller skates. About a week later, the Lord stopped by to see the cat and found him snoozing on the pillow. The Lord gently woke the cat and asked, "How are things for you since coming to heaven?" The cat stretched, yawned, and replied, "Lord, it is wonderful here. Better than I could have ever expected. Especially those meals on wheels you've been sending by - they are the best!!!"

The First Order Condition is what you quoted from Matthew 22:37-38.
“‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ “This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’” (Matthew 22:37-38).
I believe the love of God is what propels one to love his/her neighbor. It will be very difficult for someone to love a neighbor without the love of God.
Lawyer Gyebi, you have touched on very important issues in life:
I believe it was not by accident that God was merciful to the centurion. God is always merciful to those who show mercy to others by their acts of love and kindness. Cornelius in Acts 10 in the Bible is another typical example. God said: “Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God…” Cornelius was someone who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always……
It is pathetic that in Ghana people put their political affiliation first before their love for the country. People politicize everything, including even when a man of God openly prays for economic conditions to improve in the country. May God have mercy on us!

Thank you for your article "Love Your Country and Love God". I appreciated your statement regarding separating your government from your country. Your message is so true...as Christians we should especially love and help those who are less fortunate....some of them just need a helping hand and words of encouragement-----that "costs" no money. God Bless!
